Same issue I had with my old remote. The button stuck. You may have a defective remote.

Not sure on the answer to your question; I live in CO, reset the existing unit in the garage and this opener works perfect!

Q: What about distance? A lot of reviews on other garage remotes say the distance is not as good as the one that came with the opener.

At this price, who cares? Seems to work as well as the factory units that came from LiftMaster. I don't open garage door until I can see it, which is about 2 houses away, so 200 ft. or so. I bought four of these. Cross street neighbor has one and it works from his LazyBoy in house to open door - about same distance.

Q: Will this also work with Genie rolling garage door?

Not sure, but think not, this worked for specific model of chamberlain
