After watching some videos and reading up on the topic, I found that the discs were likely defective in the unit. I followed a YouTube video I found that showed me how to replace them step by step. I used 12 of these discs in mine, as many said were needed in the Hunter. I put it back together and it's working like brand new for me. Installation was fairly easy. Good value for these discs and way less than a new unit, which wasn't necessary. I should get 3 to 4 more years out of the unit before the sealed battery dies. The original discs no longer triggered the sensor although they did seem to expand (a little) still when wet. Avoids a costly visit by your sprinkler contractor, and while I’m not handy, it was easy to change these by watching a couple of YouTube videos on how to do it. The cork discs are about 1/2 the thickness of the OEM cord discs so I used 12 of the 16 In this order (vs. 8 OEM discs).
