There are some cheaper older models that probably work just as well, but this has the current RouterOS 7 (hopefully many years of support) and ax WiFi. Sadly 2.4GHz only though. I'm really just using this as a WiFi bridge for a wired Ethernet copy machine, but Mikrotik is actually great for this: the “station-pseudobridge” mode works at Layer 2 and means Bonjour/mDNS works without issue. (Make sure to update the OS! This mode was only recently added to ROS 7.) Configuring Router OS is quite complicated however. It has tons of fantastic features, but is not very user friendly. Do some research about Router OS before buying a Mikrotik device. Review: MikroTik RouterOS with AX only on 2.4Ghz - Love it. Great value and performance as a small firewall and 2.4Ghz 802.11AX. Travel ready if you want. Works seamlessly with other MikroTik APs. I'm past the initial learning curve, so config was easy and identical my other units.
