Fantastic value
I love this pen! The design is not going to be to everyone's taste but I think it's beautiful! There is a subtle little ink window which I didn't even notice at first but it's nice and clear so you can see how much ink is left. The pen is a piston filler and works well, nice and smooth and seems to hold a decent amount of ink. It also comes with a tool for unscrewing the piston for a deep clean (which is also compatible with Leonardo's).I went for a fine nib and it's a western fine, rather than a Japanese fine which would be similar to a western extra fine. It's actually a really nice writer, perfect straight out of the box, good flow, smooth with just a hint of feedback. The pen is weighty enough to feel substantial without being too heavy to make longer writing sessions uncomfortable. The section is comfortable to hold and I didn't find it slippy at all.Sizewise, the nib is the same size as a Jowo or Bock #6 and the pen when capped is around the same dimensions as an MB146 or Leonardo MZ. Uncapped it's a little longer than those two.Overall, you get a lot of features for the money, it's great value!

Gorgeous pen that writes really well!
I'll start with how this pen looks: stunning. The pen's cap is intricately engraved with phoenix designs, nicely accented by the addition of the red clip. I also love the engraved barrel and piston knob. The pen really reminds me of an imperial Chinese palace, which I guess is what it was going for with the Qin Dynasty theme. The pen is solid metal but not too weighty, it also does not post. The pen fits well in the hand and is comfortable to write with for extended periods of time. The section, although metal, is engraved and not slippery at all.The pen writes very smoothly, and to my surprise it came with a custom ebonite feed, making it a very wet writer. Other #6 nibs are able to be swapped into the pen quite easily. The piston-filling system works well and enables the pen to hold a tonne of ink. The pen box contains a wrench to open the pen with, which is reminiscent of a Montblanc wrench in design. Now on to the negatives, which are few and far between - one, more nib sizes would have been lovely, and two, the clip on the pen does not work well at all. But these are small prices to pay for such a well-designed pen that writes well and also accepts nib swaps if desired. All in all, a nice original offering from Hongdian. One wonders why other pen manufacturers aren't taking note...

Beautiful
The pen is really well made and quite heavy, which I like. the one that I purchased has the extra fine nib which writes very smoothly, and I like the filling system that does away with using ink cartridges. All in all it is a really good pen to look at and to use.

An exquisite pen.
This unusual pen is very eye catching and looks beautiful. It is very well made and writes very smoothly. The one I received did not have the wrench in the box which may cause me a problem in the future. Hence only four stars for what should be a five star product.

Form and Function combine for perfect pen! I give it 100 out of 5 points!
The precision of detail and finish on this pen is stunning. the design is elegant and invites the eye to linger. Just above the nib section, on the barrel, there's a small window which lets you check the ink level. Contrary to one reviewer's finding, it does post - i.e. the cap fits on the end of the barrel, if you like, while you write. Posted or unposted, the balance is good. I got the 'fine' nib - it's a fairly wet flow, so behaves a bit more like a medium. But the point is extremely smooth, and glides over paper without effort. A surprising and interesting thing about the nib is that it's slightly flexible. This used to be true of 14 ct gold nibs on vintage pens. But it's what the description means when saying the writing is 'soft'. I'm getting the complete collection of all four!

Looks nice but Rubbish
Photos make it look nice but it’s cheap & tacky. After a long debate about returning it Amazon sorted it! The item was then given away. It broke. See picture. Had that been in a pocket!!!
