I park on a hill, so it gets especially icy and dangerous in the winter during the daily melt/freeze cycles.At first it was difficult to bend and wrap around the pole, but I left it rolled into a circle overnight and the next day it bent around the pole just fine. The velcro is way too short to reach around the pole, but the padding is big enough to protect from any impact.
