For some background, my all time favorite artists include Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Joe Jusko, Esad Ribic, Sanjoulian, Bob Larkin, and Blas Gallego,( just to get an idea of my flavor). As a huge fan of the Conan the Barbarian character I was turned on to Brom for his" Lion Head" and "Snakeheart" paintings of conan after liking what Id seen of his work online I decided to order this book. And the verdict.... I am EXTREMELY pleased with this book, the art is fantastic and the layouts and sizes of the paintings are spot on. Several full page even an occasional 2 page layout of the most popular ones. Brom definatley has a unique albeit gothic style but is very accessable. Many of his works evoke the Mad Max universe, Frazettas Fire and Ice and even some Tim Burton flavor with an Edward Scissorhand-esque flaire. Brom will join my all time favorites list and this book is a must get for any Epic fantasy art fan, also this seems to be his most complete collection available, and being its in hardback I consider it a great investment at an awesome $30 price tag. With a story of Brom titled "Heart of Darkness" by Arnie Fenner and also Brom's life story "Up Jumped the Devil", makes great reading for those who do not know him and his devils and demons that dance in the world of the macabre and bizarre imagination of a gifted artist. Throughout the book some of the reproductions are in close ups on the opposite page so you can appreciate the detail of the work. From a man whose career spands thirty years, the art work is copied on glossy paper and would stand out in your collection of art books. Containing over 200 major works, it is an insight into a mind, and soul, of a man some call evil, but to those who know, he is a pure genius in his field. Buy a copy and delve into a realm that few have mastered in a lifetime.
