The size of the bottom piece is what you need to see to order the right flapper.** A: The only guess I can make is that if there is a bar going across the top, it won't fit an older one-piece Kohler toilet so this differenciates it right away. I have the older model so I need this flapper without the black bar. The bar fits between the two extended arms you see in the picture. I made the mistake of ordering the one with the bar, model #GP84995, and it just didn't work. This model, GP83064 is the only one I found that sits on the opening properly and doesn't leak.
