A Wonderful trip from Mildura to Rome
Geoffrey Weule writes very well and gives a very coherent account of the workings of the Catholic church which I found very interesting. The main character, Jimmy, grasps every opportunity both to rise up the ladder but also, and more importantly, to assist others less fortunate than himself. If you've read Geoffrey's autobiography you will know who Jimmy's character is based on: the author's.

A wonderful read!
A thoroughly enjoyable first novel from Geoffrey K Weule. The author provides a great sense of place, transporting his readers with vivid descriptions of country Victoria through to numerous destinations in Europe, particularly Rome. Well researched and fascinating for those generally not aware of the structures and traditions inside the Catholic church. And at it's heart, a celebration of the nurturing foundation of friendship and family. Young protagonist Jimmy Sullivan certainly has 'a life like no other.' Loved it!
