Review: These matches are hands down the best matches I have used for starting a fire. I use these mainly while camping and they have never failed to light. They burn hot and fast, and yes, I dipped a lit one in a cup of water, and it did stay lit when I removed it. I would say that's pretty waterproof. I will say these matches do burn fast through the coating and that means you should have your kindling ready. I'm not going to knock a star off because I think these matches are fantastic, but I do wish the sticks were a bit longer. Give off a big hot flame from their huge heads and are truly waterproof. They will light even after a pretty good dousing., and rain won’t put them out. They’re about the size of an old fashioned kitchen match (like those great strike anywhere ones that are so hard to find now). The only down side is that these are NOT strike anywhere & the flame doesn’t last all that long, about 15-30 seconds, so keep the striking strip safe and have your fine kindling ready. The matchsticks are pretty strong, but can break or split if handled too clumsily. The match safe works well for storing these matches and keeping the striker strip dry. It’s very tough and I’ve never cracked one.
