Muslim Evangelism: Contemporary Approaches to Contextualization Paperback – Special Edition, August 1, 2003

This is a must read for anyone involved in missions and/or reaching out Muslims. This would also be a great for any interested in World Religions. The Author does discuss things that I would consider as over-contextualization, but he also labels them as needing more study and discussion.

Very good information stressing the difference between syncretism and contextualization--staying true to the gospel commission while presenting in an understandable context. It lacks the emphasis on the power of the pure presentation of the Word to overcome all cultural differences. This is probably lacking because the authors themselves are still steeped in modern cultural 'Christianity' rather than the pure doctrines of the Bible. Until Christanity completes its work begun in the Reformation, it will meet much difficulty crossing cultural barriers. I am glad to be a member of a remnant who teach the Word alone--not adding superfluous and harmful traditions unfounded in Scripture.

No book has influenced my thinking about Muslim ministry than this one. Anyone who is interested in reaching the Muslims with the Gospel should invest time in reading and reflecting on the several excellent suggestions inside this book.

The content is gold. But as an ebook it struggles. No page numbers, no links to the end notes, no links from the end notes back to their source in the text. Reading this for an academic course was cumbersome. Do better, Biblica!

Phil Parshall has done an EXCELLENT job of treating the subject of Muslim evangelism. It is obvious that he writes from personal experience as well as being extremely knowlegable of this subject. His book is very practical and I highly recommend it to everyone!T Akins
