The test strips were all manufactured in 2018 and have a 2 year shelf life which makes the expiration date in 2020. The exact expiration date depends on the lot but the earliest expiration date is 5/23/20. The only info I found is related total hardness test. It works well and helped me set my water softener to the correct water hardness which saved me many bags of salt/year. **Q: Are the strips supposed to be green to start before having been dipped in water?** A: NO. When sealed in the container, the strips are white which would be a neutral point. Green indicates a certain level of hardness (albeit soft)which would only happen if the strips were subjected to moisture. If your strips are green already, I'd suspect they have been exposed to high humidity. Well we started noticing our glass drinking glasses started getting stains on them, the soap wouldnt suds up etc. Finally did a bunch of research and got the water softener up and running. Never had the water tested for hardness level so didnt know where to set the level for so we order this kit and it works perfectly. Nice things is the amount of strips that came with it because now, I can periodically check the hardness level. Dip the strip into water for a couple seconds, then hold it horizontally for 30-60 seconds. The color it changes to will be indicative of the level of hardness in your water.
