They were pricy but advertised 15000 hours life which I reckoned, given how much they would be used, would last 8-10 years, so I thought they would save money overall. a Couple of months ago they started flickering - all of them. Sometimes they settle down after a bit but sometimes they don't and it is like living with strobe lighting. I got an electrician to check the wiring etc but he said there were no faults: it is the bulbs coming to the end of their life. They have barely lasted as long as an old type light bulb.
