HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HAND FOR ROWING GLOVES When measuring, make sure to measure circumference of the hand across the widest part of your palm, halfway between your thumb and forefinger, straight across to the edge of your hand, with your fingers outstretched. Use your best judgment when determining which size best suits your hand type, if in doubt choose the LARGER size. It’s no surprise that hands can take quite a beating from rowing. Blisters generally develop first, followed by calluses. These sculling gloves are lightweight, super comfortable, form-fitting sports gloves designed specifically for rowing. The snug fit and silicone pattern on the palms promotes a positive grip on the oar, even when wet. The open back and lower finger design allows for cooling air flow and freedom of movement. The polyester fabric stretches laterally for comfort but not longitudinally so there is no bunching or rolling. Athletes will still develop calluses but these gloves prevent the painful blistering and ripped skin that can ruin a good row. For best results and long wear, wash in hot, soapy water after use and hang dry. Can also be used for erging (indoor rowing), weight-lifting, kayaking, SUP boards and other paddle sports. The ONLY glove designed by rowers for rowers - if you get blisters from rowing then you need to use gloves that help prevent blisters. No other glove is perfect for crew sport. How to select your gloves Rowing– bow side / starboard (select right hand plain, left hand textured) Rowing – stroke side / port (select left hand plain, right hand textured) Sculling – (both hands textured) Scull and row? Buy an extra textured glove for sculling so you have 2 textured Row on both sides? Buy one set of each

Great for indoor rowing!
I have been meaning to write this review for a while now.I like these gloves. I have the XL size and they fit snug, loose would be problematic.I have had these gloves for about a year and I use them indoors on a concept 2 rower. I have rowed a bit more than 500K meters with them. I row between 2k, 5k and 10k at a time. The longer distances cause me to callous up. Before I started with these gloves I used various weight lifting gloves and they were certainly better than bare handed but I would blister up sometimes that would shut down my rowing. With these gloves I don't blister, I still callous a little bit on the inside of the fingers below the outer knuckle but it is small and only if I have not rowed in a while. These gloves look flimsy but they are sturdy enough if you take care of them. I am careful putting them on and taking them off. I sweat a lot and sometimes the gloves will get wet but not too much. I don't think I would be able to row the distances that I do without these gloves. The longer distances you go the more things "pop up" that you have to deal with in order to continue getting better and longer. Using these gloves have removed my hands being a problem.Just recently, I noticed a small tear at the base of the right index finger. It is getting slightly larger and I think eventually might cause some trouble. I might get just over a year of rowing with them. I don't wash them, I just remove them and put them on my shoes for the next time. I suppose I could be even more careful putting them on and taking them off, perhaps they are a bit too snug?I bought two pair of these gloves thinking they would be consumables. I think I will continue to purchase them if I continue to get similar life out of them. I say this because I am not able to run anymore, my knees give trouble running with the impact. Cycling even causes me some trouble, rowing, swimming do not. Row though give me some muscle building to go with the cardio. So I will continue to use these gloves.Given the flimsy nature of the gloves I am not sure if they would work for too long on the water but I don't know this for a fact as I only row indoors on the concept 2.I would give 5 stars if they lasted longer but I am quite happy all the same.

Why only 3 stars?
Why 3 stars and not 4 or 5? These gloves are a brilliant concept and design - but are simply not robust enough. I bought them to prevent blisters and that means by definition that they are going to do some miles of rowing. I average 6 miles per day which isn't that long - and -Yes they stop the blisters wonderfully. But the gloves have all but fallen to pieces in the process after 5 weeks. Cost me a packet to get them shipped from the US (even though they came by snail mail) - so value for money is - I think - below par for me in NZ.

I measured for both my husband and I. My ...
I measured for both my husband and I. My gloved fit perfectly for the measurement I took, 'XS', and I do have particularly thin hands and fingers. My husbands were too small, we measured for a 'L' but his fingers are a little too thick for the gloves and we should have gone a size up.

The fit was perfect and once on my hands essentially "disappeared"
I normally do not wear gloves while rowing on my Concept 2 indoor rower, but was concerned when faced with 42,195 meters for the annual Concept 2 Marathon Row Challenge. The gloves worked perfectly! No hand pain, no blisters. The fit was perfect and once on my hands essentially "disappeared". I was not even aware of their presence for the entire 3 hours and 20 minutes. They seem well made and sturdy. While I do not use them for shorter rows they definitely have their place for longer distances.

Awesome. thin, like not wearing anything
Don't tell anyone I bought these. I asked on reddit what to buy and got flamed eternal. I used these on my concept2 rower. Since I injured my foot, my row sessions have gotten longer and longer causing blisters and grief, so maybe I am a girly man, but at least my hands aren't scabbed and bloody

Not cheap but do the job
Work well to reduce blisters. Fingers could be a bit longer.

Three Stars
is not so good and it is very expensive for the result

Get the starboard or port grip glove for sweeping
This pair is great for sculling. The grip on both hands is not ideal for sweeping. My teammates that purchased a pair have the grip separating from the glove on the outside hand.

Fantastic gloves for kayaking! (Plus a cautionary tip to research sellers)
I LOVE these gloves! I use them kayaking and love that they are thin and provide a lot of grip. The product is fantastic, but the seller was not... the product didn't ship until AFTER I contacted them when the quoted date long passed. Once the product arrived, I received an unexpected invoice from FedEx for customs. In the future I will research sellers to see what country they ship from (was not aware that the product was coming from Europe to Canada); the FedEx charges added close to $20 to the purchase price.

Best gloves for paddling, rowing or sailing I have ever tried and there have been lots tried.
Works great, perfect grip in all weather conditions.I followed the measuring instructions and ordered a size larger since I have a bigger fingers as suggested in the instructions. I found the fingers too tight the first time I wore them so I stretched them out overnight with pencils thru the elastics. Still a little tight the next two times wearing them but they are much better now.If you have larger fingers than I suggest ordering two sizes larger instead of one size larger.I had these on while a heavy downpour started, I was soaked to the skin in minutes but had no problems keeping a solid grip on the oars. I hung them on the towel rack when I got home and they were completely dry in just a few hours.I highly recommend these gloves for water sports. I have used them sailing, kayaking, paddling and rowing and love them.
