Review: Great kit at a great price - This kit helped me fix threads in a mountain bike frame with ease. This same kit was almost twice the cost at my local auto part store. It shipped quick, and in good condition. There was no packaging (not a big deal to me) and everything was in a zip lock bag which was nice and secure. Decent measure to take on saving money for the end customer. I dig it. :)
Review: Easy to use, worked like a champ - Wasn't sure what to do when I stripped the threads on a mounting bracket on the engine of my truck while changing coil packs. Did some research and ran across this 'helicoil' technology. I needed a pretty small on (M5), and none of the local auto parts stores carried any that small. Found this set on Prime-Same Day delivery, and ordered it. It arrived as shown....no instructions whatsoever. Having watched a couple of YouTube videos on using helicoils for thread repair, it was pretty self explanatory. The kit comes with the coils, a drill bit, a tapping drill bit, a punch and the insertion tool. Instructions would be: 1. Drill out the existing hole using the 'plain' drill bit. 2. Tap the hole with the tapping bit to create some threads for the helicoil. A little cutting oil helps here (a drop or two). 3. Blow or vacuum out any of the metal shavings from Steps 1 & 2. 4. Place a coil on the end of the insertion tool, with the tang of the coil in the bottom slot on the tool. If you are working in a tight spot, or in a downward position, put a dab of grease on the tool. The stickiness will hold the coil on the tool. 5. Screw the coil into the prepared hole. There is a set screw and collar on the tool you can use to set the insertion depth of the coil, if needed. 6. Once at the desired depth (typically a turn or two below the lip of the hole), remove the tool, and insert the punch. 7. Tap the punch with a hammer (gently) and break off the tang. Blow or vacuum the tang out if needed. 8. Install your bolt as designed. All in, this took me about 10 minutes, and the bolt threaded in perfectly and locked in tight.

## Features

- Drilling - clear the damaged threads with a standard drill. (to repair a spark plug thread no pre-drilling is necessary if using the special spark plug tap), please pay attention that for fluteless taps bigger holes are required.
- Checking - check that the thread and pitch of the tap and the bolt match.
- Tapping - use the special taps for cutting the holding thread into the cleared hole (recommended to use a suitable cutting oil).
- Install the insert - place insert on installation tool and position the adjustable ring so that the insert tang is centered in the tang slot. Wind the insert in with a light downward pressure until a half turn below the surface. Don't work against the thread direction as the tang could break.
- Tang removal - After finishing lift the installation tool and use the tang break tool to remove the tang. For bigger sizes and spark plug taps use long nose pliers to remove the tang. Due to the narrow and exact tolerances the new thread normally is stronger than the original ones.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product

I have used several now. The only issues to date are as follows: On an oil pan, I did not seat the threads deeply enough and the threads leaked. I had to drill a couple of them out and replace. On the second run, I used thread locker, took the inserts deeper so they did not partially extend below the engine block and also used a gasket sealing compound on the screws and around the pan. It is working well-no drips to date. The only other issue is be careful when seating the threads. As you are nearing the bottom, make sure you can withdraw the tool. It could be due to me not tapping deeply enough but the insert constricts as it gets deeper. This prevents the insertion tool (screws the insert in place) from being removed. You can't unscrew the thread without breaking the ears at the end or pull it our. In my case, I broke the ears off. Lesson learned....
