It doesn’t chew the food up well enough and now the food comes up thru the adjoining sink’s drain. It was properly installed by a plumber btw. **Q: Can I install it myself?** A: I guess I'm a "handy" around the house but plumbing and I don't usually get along very well so I generally avoid it at all cost. None-the-less I couldn't see paying someone to install a garbage disposal. It turned out to be fairly easy. The instructions cover about 90% of what I needed to know to do the installation. The 10% missing stumped me for about an hour. Overall it took me about 2 hours, probably should have only taken less than an hour. Plumbing is sometimes is like a black whole for me - I' m in my 60's and still have a mental block with most plumbing issues. Hope that helps. : ) **Q: any plastic parts, i.e. case body.=?** A: the case is plastic and internal is all stainless. **Q: what about the dishwasher connection?** A: very easy to connect dishwasher. Both units ending up leaking on me. I was fed up with the Badger 1 and took a chance that the Waste King L-2600 would be an easy replacement. It was!! The Waste King was a direct replacement and the pipes lined up perfectly with the Badger 1 so no re-plumbing was needed. Installation was easy and straight forward after reading through the instructions. I removed the old waste disposal and installed the new one in 30 minutes!! The Waste King L-2600 is fairly quiet. There is a clunking / clicking noise on startup but the manual says that's expected as that's the anti-jam mechanism activating. With the water running and then turning on, you can't hear the clicking / clunking noise so not an issue. So how does it compare?
