No sanding between coats on this project. **Q: Is this waterproof? I’m looking for a waterproof gloss coating for homemade coasters** A: Absolutely 100% waterproof. I usually use 2 to 3 Coats. **Q: Will this work on Resin?** A: I've never personally used it on resin, but it works wonderfully on plastics and other materials. **Q: Description says polyurethane. But isn't this water based? Poly is oil based. I want a totally matte, waterproof coating for on top of acrylic paints** A: This will do what you are looking for. I have another brand of varnish and it also says it’s a water based polyurethane to be used over acrylic paints. I have used different brands of this product for many years without any problem. I recommend 3 coats, drying well in between, and read any directions on the bottle. I’ve had as many years using these water based varnishes as they’ve been around. It washes off brushes etc with water which is so convenient and easy. It is permanent and creates good protection for your crafts, paper etc. This varnish dries quickly and it is a true matte finish. I find a bottle to go a long way. I varnished many paper mache pieces and still have almost a full bottle.
