A Treasure & an Inspiration for a true Photo Enthusiast !
National Geographic-The Photographs : Elegant!Date : 25th December 2016(Bought this back in 2013)A Treasure & an Inspiration for a true Photo Enthusiast. The Author Leah Bendavid-Val, Director of Photography Publishing for Nat Geo Books, talks about the photographers, their photographs and their achievements. As its preface say, The Photographs offers readers an inside look at the Nat Geo's award winning photographs, the facts behind them, and the inside stories of the men and women who took them.It was the Gift Book of the Year, in the year it was published. If you have a photo enthusiast friend or relative, its the best gift they can get from you. BTW I gifted it to myself :DThe whole book is categorized into sections like Then and Now, Faraway Places, In the Wild, Underwater, The Sciences and In the USA.The book is made of quality(can't say the best) pages to showcase the various marvelous photographs of renowned Nat Geo photographers & photo-journalists like Steve McCurry, Raghubir Singh, David Doubilet, Bill Curtsinger and assignments of David Alan Harvey, Jim Stanfield, Emory Kristof (The Titanic) and many more.As you see, the front cover features one of the most famous photographs around the world, 'The Afghan Girl', a portrait of an Afghan refugee girl (Sharbat Gula), taken in 1985 by Steve McCurry. And the back cover, the same Sharbat Gula in 2002 after Steve's successful attempt to find her after a decade.I have only seen 'The Afghan Girl' in digital image format, never in a printed hard-copy till i get this book on my hand.If you really want to feel that photo, 'her' eyes, the depth of 'her' look into the camera, try to see the photo as/in a hard-copy on your hands. Some of my favourite photographs from the book are- Whale Shark by David Doubilet- Photo of Riders at Maui by Grosvenor- Pilloried Cinese Murderers by Joseph E Rock- First Snow Loopord photo inn wild by George Schaller- First successful underwater color photograph by Longley & Charles Martin. The book consists of 336 pages and is square shaped with dimensions 17 x 18 x 3.3 cm.If you find my review helpful, please click YES below, that would encourage me to write more reviews :)Happy Shopping !

Love it but...
Love the photo book. My first collection. But the book size is too small to dive into it. I guess this the best that can be offered for the budget

Amazing Masterpiece and a Photographer's dream collection.
One of the Best books for the budding Photographers like me.So, its a Dusshera gift to myself.Leah Bendavid-Val has done an awesome work, with all the National Geographic's huge amazing and catchy collections. The book sketches down all the beautiful collections of Steve McCurry, Raghubir Singh, David Doubilet, Chris Johns and many other esteemed Photographers. Most of the pics, i hope you have you all have already seen in the social media platforms, but this book will lead you to untold stories behind each click. This book is truly an out of the box book, because the images are not only captured by the Photographers, but also by the Photo-Journalist. So, each image tells the story behind it, and the hardship to click it.The 330 page book is very handy and the paper quality is amazing. The glossy texture of each page has added up to the quality of each snap.Yes, the only thing which caught my eyes, is the mid fold of the book which parted the long photographs, if it was a wide table book the pictures could have been more soothing to the eyes.Delivery by Amazon was really quick. So, bottom line, very cheap book, and a wonderful masterpiece. So, grab your copy now, take the inspiration and start clicking such amazing pics.

Smaller from my expectations
Since this is a photography book I expected it to be bigger in size but it’s more of a mini encyclopaedia which is still good but size was a big issue for me still I’ll have it in my collection

A really good read
It's an amazing collection of pictures and narratives. The only con is the size. If the book would've been bigger, it would make the pictures come to life, as compared to the tiny prints in this one.But the pros anyway overcome the cons of the book.
