Review: Great little drum machine - I got this as a gift for my bassist boyfriend. He loves it. He’s been using it for a year and says all great things about it. It’s the most realistic sounding drums or all drum machines he’s ever used. The controls are very intuitive and easy to use. It has programmable drum fills and changes so you it can be used for live performances. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: this one, like the more expensive one, doesn't have a dedicated output, so the drum sounds go into your guitar amp, or you run your guitar direct?**
A: I run mine at the end of my effects loop. The last pedal before going to the return. This works great, as the drum sounds only go to the power section of my amp keeping the sound clean and undistorted. If you are cranking the power section you would end up breaking up a little, but I use it for practice at low volume and still get oodles of gain from my pre amp on my guitar with a nice clean drum sound on the same amp and cab.  I’m not sure why they don’t recommend setting it up this way?  It works great for me!!

**Q: Does the Mini 2 come with a power supply?**
A: Yes, it does. Plug it in & go!

**Q: I'm using this on a pedal board. Any suggestions on where to put it in the signal chain?**
A: Sorry, I can't answer your question - i don't have, or use, a pedal board.  Here's what is says it the Quick Start Guide:  "If you are plugging in other pedals, the Beat Buddy Mini 2 should be the last on the pedal effects chain, after the looper, so that it's soundisn't affected by your other pedals.  Hope this helps.

**Q: does it have any surf-thrash/horror-hop/greaser-billy kind of beats??**
A: Not by those names but that doesn't mean that none of the available beats wouldn't work.
You might even find a nice polka beat?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's a great device but it has some UX issues

Overall it's a good device. It sounds great. But it has a few issues that make it harder for me to use: 1. Biggest issue: can't lock the tempo. If I set a tempo, every time I change song or genre the tempo changes. That means I need to go back and set the tempo again which isn't an easy process. 2. Can't disable the outro. There's a way to disable the intro but not the outro. 3. I wish when I changed the songs/genres it wouldn't stop the beat. I wish it would just continue playing seamlessly. 4. The beats are very basic. It would've been fairly easy for them to add more professional sounding patterns and perhaps a few more variations of samples. They could've added hundreds of more patterns though. But when I go to hip hop for example, there's just a handful of basic beats. I know the bigger beatbuddy addresses a lot of these issues, but what I've listed here are easy implementations as far as software dev goes, so they could have added it to the mini as well.
