Review: Excellent analog IC design text and reference, but keep a beady eye out for errata! - A very good book for budding analog IC design engineers, some sections could do with a little more depth, but most importantly be careful of the errata. Question every calculation, equation and formula and test the example calculations, even if you don't look at the end of chapter exercises. The book has earned a well deserved reputation over the years for its excellent blend of material and easy transition through the design hierarchy of popular devices and circuits. The author Dr. Phillip Allen is a world authority on analog IC design, and a superb lecturer (I attended one of his 1-week crash courses at Imperial College, London in 2003). However, early editions of the book also picked up a bad reputation over the years for the many errata. They were so bad they were also found in the worked examples, and even the errata itself was suspect. I would recommend printing out the available Errata for this 3rd edition which has thankfully shrunk to nearly a 3rd of what it once was for the 2nd edition. I do not own the 3rd edition and would have given 3 stars for the 2nd edition. I only wanted to give a heads-up to the younger designers unaware of what went on before. So my 4-stars awarded for the 3rd edition may be taken with a very small pinch of salt, I awarded that because at least the errata is much less than what it used to be, but then the errata...

Not many other books offer the level of understanding and knowledge from the master Phillip Allen. Highly recommended as a reference in analogue IC design.
