They come packaged in a small box, with 4 pieces inside, all individually bagged to prevent them from getting scratched. You simply slide the top of the stand into the slot in the bottom of the stand, and voila, you have a controller stand ready to go. The top parts have two holes in the insertion tab. I'm not sure if these were meant to have some sort of snap-in wedge to hold them together, or if they were meant to be fastened with a screw or something in a different use, but they don't get in the way of anything, so it's more a curiosity than anything. At 2/3rd the price, I'd be a much happier buyer, but they work, they don't feel cheap, and they're plenty sturdy, so I'm happy overall. You can do a lot worse for the money.
