Review: Perfect Compact Surrounds! Punches Way Above Their Weight in a Tight Space - If you are dealing with a smaller room and need compact surround speakers that don't sacrifice performance, these are an absolute hidden gem. My Setup & The "Why": I have a smaller home cinema room running a Denon AVR-X1800H and an Apple TV for media control. I originally bought a Q Acoustics 3010c 5.1 bundle, but decided to reallocate two of the 3010c bookshelves to my home office for music. I needed a smaller, more discrete pair of rear surrounds to complete my 5.1 system, and these Cambridge Audio speakers stepped into the role flawlessly. Performance & Sound Quality: I have used these exclusively as rear surrounds for over 3 months now, so I cannot comment on how they perform in a standard 2.1 stereo setup. However, as surrounds, they are incredible. They provide a beautifully immersive ambient soundstage for movies and TV series. Despite their small footprint, they pack a serious punch and remain crystal clear even during intense action scenes. They blend seamlessly with my other speakers, completing a fantastic all-British ensemble. Form Factor & Mounting: Their size is a massive selling point. Because they are so compact, they are incredibly easy to mount on thin floor stands or directly on the wall. I have mine positioned right up against the edge of the settee, and they don't feel intrusive or bulky at all. Pros: Surprisingly powerful and punchy for such a small cabinet. Crystal clear ambient sound for films and series. Very easy to mount on thin stands or walls in tight spaces. Great price-to-performance ratio. Cons: Limited Context: Because I’ve only used these as dedicated rear surrounds in a small room, I can’t comment on how they would perform as a primary 2.1 stereo setup or standard front bookshelves. Physical Limitations: They are compact speakers designed to pack a punch for their size, so they likely won't have the deep low-end bass required to carry a large living room on their own. Final Verdict: They have perfectly rounded out my 5.1 setup. If you need to save space without ruining your soundstage, I cannot recommend these enough.
Review: Subwoofer - Used in a regular hifi set-up the sound is crystal clear, but totally lacking in any bass (due to their small size). With the addition of a subwoofer the sound is superb, if all you listen to is speech then they are excellent on their own but with a subwoofer they come to life, get a sub you'll not regret it. The pros are, a good-looking and well built speaker diminutive in stature which sounds superb when paired with a subwoofer. The cons, price, non-removable grill. Highly recommended 10/10
