good deal, with caveats
I needed a caliper to calibrate my 3D printer, and this was the cheapest metal one I could find. I think it will work well for my purposes, although I will mention two caveats: (1) the LR44 battery came dead (confirmed with a multimeter), which is very disappointing considering this caliper should be able to save battery life with auto-off (2) although the description currently on amazon says that it comes with a spare battery, I did not receive any spares (3) nitpick: the action on the sliding caliper is not as smooth as others that I've used at work. But I suppose that is a fair tradeoff at this price-point

Well made and accurate
Unlike the waterproof unit also sold in this listing, the stainless steel caliper runs off a single button battery, but the auto off should yield a long life though. The caliper works smooth and seems ruggedly made. A prior pair I owned had epoxy graphite jaws and the measuring surface wore rapidly which killed the accuracy in short order. The stainless jaws of these should wear less than the plastic jaws of the cheaper version also sold in this listing. I kind of miss the fractional inch setting of other calipers I've owned, but these are still a great value.

Concerns with internal electronics.
The physical construction of the metal body is sound. The issues I take are with the workmanship of the electronics. When I got my order and tried to turn on the calipers it wouldn’t power on. I tested the included, preinstalled battery with a multimeter and the voltage was only 0.8V of the rated 1.5V under no load, I.E. dead. Meaning I was either sent a dead from the start or that the auto off feature doesn’t work as advertised, you don’t get a batter from 1.5V to 0.8V without draining it hard. To elaborate, batteries “die” when their no load voltage matches or is just below their rated voltage. There’s also visible FOD (Foreign Object Debris) where the battery sits, a white powder caked to the PCB itself. As a hand solder technician and IPC J-STD-001 specialist, I can tell you that either these are assembled in an environment that doesn’t conform to IPC standards for cleanliness (which are recognized internationally) or that the boards aren’t properly washed to remove left over flux residues after the soldering process. And if it is flux residue and it’s ORL0 or any M or H strength flux then it will eat away at the PCB. The description also mentions an “spare button” in the description, which there wasn’t, whatever it was supposed to be, be it a battery or something else.

DJ02 - Caliper Works For My Requirements - A76 LR44 Battery
This will work great for setting front and rear gun sightsUnit arrived with a dead battery. Amazon has this battery - LR44 1.5V Button Cell Battery @ 20 for less than $7 (name brand)Verified the battery was the issue and tested with a .40 mm ammo round. Caliper registered .40mm, which is exactly what it should do.Remember:IP54 rating is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent the product from operating normally but it's not dust tight. The product is fully protected against solid objects and splashing of water from any angle. It is not water proof (at least the battery compartment is not)

Appears to be accurate
This tool is very well made. One little negative is that it was furnished with a battery that was dead. I put in a new battery and put it back into the case with the plastic wrapper. I opened the case and the screen was on. I think the wrapper was bunched up over the on-off button and turned it on when I closed the case. I took the wrapper off and re-closed the case and it was not accidentally turned on. So I think it will be OK

Quality Merchandise
I received my Dijite Electronic Digital Caliper today and was pleased to find a quality stainless precision device that far exceeded my expectations. For years, I have used a plastic caliper that was good for two place accuracy. This new caliper is good for four place accuracy either in inch or metric mode. It is easily calibrated to zero before use and has an easy to read LCD display. The measuring jaws are highly polished and can read an internal or external distance. The caliper is powered by a 1-1/2 volt "coin battery". I recommend this instrument to anyone needing a good caliper. Don Mills

Corroded Battery Inside
Shipped with a corroded battery inside. Makes no sense why the battery was installed, when it should have been in a separate plastic bag for long shelf life. I bought a new battery, cleaned area with Q-tip and baking soda, placed a segment of wire where the contact rotted out, and caliper works. Otherwise, a very nice caliper at a great price. Just dumb management, I guess.

Arrived with dead battery (no spare) and bent locking screw
Cons:- This caliper arrived with dead battery (also no spare battery included, but it should be) so I can not use this item. It is disappointing.- Locking screw is shaped as a banana.- Thumb wheel is too loose and makes clanking sounds when you shake the caliper.Pros:+ It is the cheapest metal caliper on amazon.+ No visible gap between jaws and caliper feels straight.Overall:Good for household use (if you have your own battery for it) for its price. Do not expect quality to be close to $100+ mitutoyo calipers.
