It is 120 volt. **Q: could you use more than 1 of these together to broaden wireless range?** A: YES you can but it's not that simple and I could not get it to work using the WPS buttons of the two extenders. Their phone support also recommended against it...probably because it's not that simple to make the connection...but it is possible...here's how. Connect extender one to the router/network and position appropriately away from router. Plug in the second extender within wireless range of the first extender. Get your laptop and connect to the second extender with an Ethernet cable (note...if you have tried to connect the second extender before "reset" it first). You may need to disable your wifi on your computer. Now...turn off the power to your router but leave the first extender on. This allows your second extender to only see the signal from the first extender and not the router. Follow the instructions to connect the second extender to your network. When you select your network name from the available wifi connections it will connect to the first extender as the source and not your router. Once the two connect turn your router back on. Without going through this process I kept connecting to the router itself which provided a weaker signal. Hopefully this helps. **Q: Will I have to have a separate name for this internet connection or will it still be the original wireless name?** A: Actually, you do not need a separate name. I connected mine to my router using the one-touch pairing option (press a button on your router, then press a button on the TP Link device). It automatically set up the new device with the same network name.Edit: I'm not sure if my one-touch pairing worked correctly. It might use a separate network name (SSID) by default. Then you would have two different SSIDs, as Kristi describes.However, it is possible to set it up manually so that it has the same SSID as your router. Then, your computer will automatically lock on to whichever signal is stronger. E.g., if your router is upstairs, and your extender is downstairs, then it would connect directly to the router when you're upstairs, and connect through the extender when you're downstairs. You wouldn't notice the difference. **Q: will it work with a modem/router combo?** A: As long as there is wifi signal this repeater will get the signal and retransmit it to the areas where the other wifi trasmitir does not reach So basically it repeats the other wifi router or modem. Usually even with the same Id name so it is transparent. You don't know it is there. Only the signal is stronger where there was no signal before.
