In my opinion that means either someone tuned it with ungodly expertise, or they want it to look that way. My wife has known nothing but sm58s , e100s and xm8500s. She used this once and fell in love. As her sound tech, so did I. MXL proved once again they know their sound to a god like degree. The vocals are warm, and clear. As for build quality, this thing is a damned tank. You can tell from the moment you pick it up, its solid, but not overly heavy. Just heavy enough to let you know its built to last. Couple this thing with an xlive u3 rig...I would take it over a sennheiser believe it or not. Feedback rejection is exceptional. From the perspective of a vocalist it sounds, crisp, clean and warm. From the engineering perspective it works, and works well. It is a refined piece of equipment that is a dream to work with. The bright colors made me think it was more flash than substance, and I have never been happier to be so wrong. Make no mistake, MXL does not do anything half way. Its quality, or nothing.
