The upper ball mount needs to be really tight to keep the camera in place. I had the vertical arm retracted as far as it would go. The E-M5 has a mechanical shutter and this induced enough motion to "ghost" the image. So I would not recommend this for use with any camera that has a mechanical shutter. It would probably be fine for a cell phone or a fully electronic camera, though I wouldn't go much heavier.
