Upon dismantling, I discovered the belt had snapped which was no biggy, but further inspection revealed the front bearings, consisting of plastic or PTFE rubbing pads, had worn to the point of disintegration. These were no longer listed as available spares, so a quick online search revealed this Teflon sheet. Using one of the old pads as a pattern, I cut out six of the shapes from the sheet, fitted and rebuilt the machine with a new belt. It's been running fine since. The sheet seems to be good quality and is easy to handle.
