Cheap & ain't easy
Ok, where to start...The item is cheap! Don't mistake it for a high end warmer. The bars are curved and are not tight enough to stay in one position. With no way to tighten. So the top bar is doing 360 (hope there isn't a wire I am gonna twist off and break inside). The coating is a nickel-colored paint. Not too realistic, but would be fine if it didn't chip away easily. (Someone else mentioned same)Would be also nice if the paint on the unit matched the wall mount piece. The shipping is cheap! Unit arrived in a plastic bag (that's it!) So before I even received it - it was already banged up and missing the "nickel" paint in a few places. But it's large and annoying to have to ship back, so... I am going forward with the project. For the person who said this is an easy install: you sir/madam are full of ... (or are employed by Warmrails). If you are going to plug it into an outlet - that's NOT an install. That's how you hang a painting. And you would need to rip it out of the wall when you vacate/sell the place. (And close 8 huge holes you've created hanging it up).If you want it to actually increase the value of your bathroom, you need to do a WALL MOUNT install. (Read: add half a day and if you can't do electrical work, add $80 for an electrician). And this is where it all goes south quick.1) you will need additional parts and a whole bunch of tools. (At least the right grade of an in-wall aluminum wire ($10) and 2 screws for the wall mounting plate which are for some ungodly reason missing.2) you will need to shorten the (wall-to-unit) pipe that comes with it. because it is TOO LONG. (For NO apparent reason. It's not like the wall can SOMEHOW miraculously be at a different distance than the PLASTIC LEG of the warmer 2 inches away! I recommend a dremel. But any metal saw will do. Also, the wall cover is a sliver larger than a traditional mount box giving you zero chance to get that right.3) There are no templates for the wall cut out. So... good luck eyeing it. There are also no plastic/metal box to host the wiring OR the plastic ends for merging 3 wires. (I guess that's part of #1).4) If you have a huge bathroom with lots of wall space near the tub - you are in luck. If you live in/near a city - you are OUT of luck. As the "easy to remove" tiny screws could be impossible to reach once the warmer is mounted on the wall.5) One of the screw threads on the switch box was busted. Which caused a bunch of grief during the install.Easy install this is not. PAY SOMEONE TO INSTALL IT - you will not regret the 1/2 a day wasted.Add $30 in additional parts to your cost for *proper* install.Another gripe - this thing requires a full 3 wire install. Which means you can't mount it off of an electric switch (hot+ground) - you need a full blown outlet (or a new run). Which is unnecessary and complicates things.I was planning to buy another one for the second bathroom. I think I'll skip on that.Does it work? YES.Does it look ok on a wall? YES.Do I wish they would spend extra $5 on parts so I don't have to spend $30? YesDo I wish ill on whomever designed it and didn't consider tight working conditions? Indubitably!Quality of the unit itself: 5/10Difficulty of an outlet install: 3/10Difficulty of an in-wall install: 10/10

A Good-Value Indulgence
When we decided to "down-size" (which in reality means "up-spend") from grass-all-around to a town-home, my wife had an electrical outlet installed near the bathtub to accommodate a future towel warmer. I had no idea such a thing existed. After receiving enlightenment, we looked around quite a bit and finally settled on this one. Installation was straightforward with eight dry-wall anchors. There's a wire-in option but the plug-in is standard and that's what I used. A left-side cord option would have been nice instead of just the right-side. I turned the unit on and it's stayed on since, keeping towels snuggly warm and drying washcloths and delicates. Note that the cross-rails get hot enough to burn you but not so hot that you'll get burned if you retract immediately. A practical aspect is that the towels and washcloths never sour and may require less frequent washing. After all, you're already clean when you use the towel to dry off.In response to some of the negative reviews: I thought installation was easy and don't think wiring-in is essential. A bathroom has cords everywhere already (curlers, hair dryer, razor, shaver, toothbrush, etc.) so one more thing plugged in isn't an esthetic or safety problem. My unit has cross-bars that are firmly fixed in place and the finish isn't paint -- it shows no signs of wear after many years. If the manufacturer is down-grading the production quality over earlier runs, then that is indeed a shame since the unit I have is a good value.

Fifth time we have purchased this heated bar!
Easy to install, performs brilliantly. Bought them for our last house and current home. Solid product

Loved it. After 10-11 years the thermostat failed
The Kensington towel warmer is a replacement of same product we installed in a new house we built in 2006. Loved it. After 10-11 years the thermostat failed. Quite reasonable since it was on for the whole time. I contacted the company and they don't make these anylonger but told me to check AMAZON.com. I actually, like this newest one better as it isn't as hot! The first one was way way hot and I burned my bare hip while drying off, when I backed into it. My fault entirely. This newer towel warmer even looks better. It is "polished nickel" and looks great with all the other hardware in our master bath. It holds two Bath Sheets (yes, SHEETS my husband is 6'4"), quite well, plus the towel I use for my hair. We wanted the same exact product due to the plug in placed by our builder specifically for this product and the holes in the wall to hold it. The cord on it comes LONG. My husband shortened the cord so it plugs right into the wall. Rather like the picture of it in the ad. My husband can do most household repairs including electric.

Looks good!
We don't leave it on 24/7, so it is a bit slow to heat up, but I can live with that. The contractor said it was a bit difficult to install, but it looks great on our wall :)

Warm and cozy in the morning
I just completed an extensive remodeling of my master bath. One of the items that was a "must have" was a towel warmer. I requested the contractor install one, but when I saw the one he bought I knew it was way too small. So, I had him return it and I bought this one from Amazon. I installed it myself. The only complaint is that attaching the bottom leg next to the switch is nearly impossible. I have a flexible bit that allows me to bend my screwdriver in all manners to get in tight spaces; there was NO way I could figure out how to get the top screw in this leg put in. I ended up leaving it out as the towel rack seems very solid with seven of eight screws in place. I leave mine on all the time. Hanging on it daily, I have a bath sheet for me, another large towel that I use to wipe down my new shower with every day (it gets soaked), a washcloth, a hand towel and a bath mat. They are all dry and toasty, ready to be used by the next morning. I really love it and I know I'm going to be really happy this summer when it's humid. In the past, my towels wouldn't completely dry if it was really sticky. Now they'll be nice and dry.
