The silicone is real and very flexible. It does not shrink back when soldered. I hope I never have to use PVC insulated wire again. The wire appears to actually be tinned copper when viewed end on after cutting and is not at all magnetic. Easily solderable. I just stripped a bit of each wire with the strippers set to the appropriate gauge setting and that worked perfectly so they are the appropriate cross section. Now all I want is larger spools of it!
