No, it is not like a TV, and if that's what you expect you will be disappointed. The resolution total is, I think, 160x64. It does play animation very fluidly and is quite crisp. At first I had some fairly major difficulty, I set the wifi key wrong, then I opened it up and used the reset button and the key wouldn't reset. What I didn't know is that you can use the ethernet port inside and just set the wifi key again with HDPlayer. So I held the reset longer and ... blank screen. Considering every other similar story I found online had jumbled screens after that rather than blank, I was sure it was broken. Not sure what's different here. After much difficulty I realized you can set the LED panel type using the app Ledart on Android, after you get it back on wifi, or using the ethernet port inside. Or don't donk it up in the first place, but I am sure many, many people do, because it's so easy. The button to save the key just says something like \"connect\" so you think it'll test the connection, but no, it just saves the settings, one shot to get it or you have to go for the ethernet port inside the unit. It may be possible to set the panel type from the Windows app as well, but I couldn't find it. Anything you mess up is fixable. You don't need to actually connect it to your own wifi, alternatively, you can connect to it like a router instead, but then you need to be nearer to it and temporarily dedicate your client. The Windows app, HDPlayer, is fairly decent, except it's extremely unstable. Best to make a GIF or two in something else and just use those rather than trying to create the sign layout in HDPlayer entirely, because it will probably crash. Also, HDPlayer alternates between communicating and \"disconnected\" every 20 or 30 seconds, even though the sign is pingable, so you may have to keep clicking send sometimes. I'm including all this info here because the instructions are not great. Just a paper with some poor translations on it and absolute barebones info, which is a shame considering the item is so capable. This is kinda where it all shines, to me at least. It's built out of basically off the shelf parts. There's some power supplies, some semi-standard LED panels, and a controller. In this case the controller was HD-D16, which it turns out, I quite like. But if something burns out, you'll likely be able to replace it yourself, which is something I've longed for with my big expensive EMCs, where one component costs double or triple this entire sign. I've been messing with this quite a bit, in the same way a tinkerer might use DOS+Windows 3.1 for the first time in years. It's the same feeling that is implied by the statement \"put the fun back in computing\". You bought it, you own it, you can do almost anything. If you've assembled and used a 3D printer or CNC machine, you know exactly what I'm talking about, and if you've needed to change a phone battery in recent years, you know exactly the problem with the opposite. The wiring on the inside was nice and clean. Although.. they did not blow out their aluminum flakes after using self drilling screws, which shouldn't be too big of an issue as most of the components are potted/coated/something, but if that lands just right in the power supply, it could be a dead short. I would recommend anyone to take off the side and back of their sign and blow it out or at least inspect, and reassemble, before you plug it in. The price is pretty good and I don't anticipate any immediate failures after having been all through it, and I would definitely buy more of these. The only place it lacks is any sort of API for developers, which seems to be the case with all of these similar signs, no matter what controller they come with. I personally would not trust the apps on any production device without a barrier, and as such I have the Android app on a noncritical phone (and only installed it to fix the panels) and the Windows app in a virtual machine. Maybe they're fine, maybe not, I don't trust them. There is no Linux app. I'd bet the Android app works in an Android emulator just fine. If you're deciding between one of these and a bright TV for a storefront, I'd go with this. If you need an intricate menu that requires a lot of detail, then go with a bright TV. I think most people looking at this have already ended up exactly where they wanted to go, but just aren't sure yet. The videos on this listing are legit, that is what the sign looks like playing video, although they don't do its brightness justice. If I could find something to gripe about, I'd say the cord is too skinny and I don't like that, and also I would personally not trust it for outdoors. It was listed for only $110 and I got it $10 off so paid only $100 + tax. To get a 1440p monitor for so cheap is really incredible. The monitor does kind of have a cheaper feel/weight to it but it preforms well and that's what counts as far as I'm concerned. It came with an HDMI cable which is adequate for a monitor that only does 100hz. If you prefer Display Port than it has an input for that but you will have to provide your own cable. As someone who pretty much exclusively plays single player games 100hz is plenty for me. When I decided to buy the monitor I couldn't find any reviews for this specific version (24\" 1440p 100hz). There were plenty of good reviews for other versions but not for this one. I am glad I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway. It really is a nice step up from my previous 1080p 27\" 75hz LG monitor which I think was probably meant more for an office than a gamer. I was not sure how noticeable the jump up in resolution would be but it is noticeable and quite nice. The games look better, text is clearer and easier to read, and I noticed that even the UI for Windows and programs I use like Shotcut just look better and seem to be made with higher resolutions (QHD and above) in mind. The jump from 75hz to 100hz has been less noticeable but again I play single player games, also I prefer to play with a controller, and I come from decades of playing on consoles where a solid 30fps is considered pretty good and 60hz a bit of an anomaly. This monitor does accept an HDR signal but I have not been able to test that out much yet. Also I don't believe it has the HDR 400 certification but at this price this is not surprising and from what I hear HDR 400 monitors aren't really all that great for HDR. The cheapest HDR monitor I've scene recommended costs $280, which is quite a jump up from the price of this monitor. Also Windows reports it as a 10 bit monitor. I'm not sure if that was mentioned in the specs but that is nice to see on a budget monitor (instead of only 8 bit). One thing some people might not like about this monitor is it does not have much customization in terms of brightness and colors and things like that. If you are the type of person who really likes to tinker with those kinds of sliders and settings than this is not the monitor for you. It has 7 different presets that you can choose from but that's just about it as far as the choices go. For me there are a few that I like so I have no complaints and if you like to keep things simple than this could be a positive but if you need to tinker than find a different monitor. It does have crosshair and FPS counter choices in the settings but I have not tried them as I do not have a need for them. Before finding this monitor I had never seen a 1440p monitor at 24\". They were always 27\" and above when I looked. I have to say that initially I kind of missed the extra screen space with the 27 incher but after a couple weeks I got used to it and honestly do think it is a great size. It allows me to be closer to the screen and actually sit at my desk whereas before with the 27\" monitor I had to sit a bit back to be able to comfortably take in all the screen real estate. If you are coming from a smaller size monitor than I think this will be a nice upgrade. If your previous monitor was bigger just know that it might take a week or 2 to get used to the smaller size but I think that once you do, you will not miss the bigger screen. Also the pixel density is pretty high at 1440p 24\" as most monitors this size are only 1080p. So in conclusion if you are like me and just want an inexpensive but well made 1440p monitor, than I think you will be happy if you choose this one. My need for this product was because I have a 2009 Pioneer AVR that only includes a 1080p output back to the tv. As such, I needed to be able to split my 4K video signal from my Nvidia Shield Pro (2019 model) to both my 4K Dolby Vision TV (Sony X900H) and also passthrough the HD audio (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA) to my receiver for processing. The bottom of the unit has printed scenarios and indicates the various rocker switch configurations depending on your needs. My setup above required the 4th configuration. In summary, I had to push the EDID switch down from \"AUTO\" to \"OUT1\" and the \"AVR\" switch and the \"4K TO 1080p\" switch needed to be ON. Once I did that the Shield/TV indicated that Dolby Vision was available and asked if I wanted to use it. After a few seconds, the Shield properly output Dolby Vision to the TV. I was able to check this in both Disney+ content and also files I have on my media server playing back within Kodi (Leia 18.9 build). I've watched a few films thus far on the Kodi and finished watching WandaVision on Disney+ and the U9 ViewHD UHD1X2SA simply works. It allows me to continue receiving HD audio from my older AVR while getting the best picture possible from my Shield and 4K TV. I reached out to customer service twice as I was unsure of which model I needed to buy in order to get the results above. I received an email the same day and was told the ViewHD UHD1X2SA was the way to go for my setup. The customer service even went as far as calling me to discuss my setup at length. I mainly play fps games like, and I currently main an Alienware 2523HF which is a 25 inch 1080p at 360hz IPS which is insane. But lately Ive been gravitating to story based games more and more and since I work from home, 1440p at 27 inches being 240hz was a perfect middle ground for me or so I thought. Cons 1. Terrible out of the box colors, nice contrast, nice brightness around 400 ~ 450 nits which should deliver nice HDR experience, but this panel only reaches 8 bit color depth which it sucks. 2. Motion performance is mediocre at best, this panel even the off overdrive setting has ghosting. None of the overdrive settings are usable on this monitor. I won’t get on the side angles because va panels are terrible at that and quite honestly you should sit in-front of your monitor anyways so, the monitor not looking good from the side is just splitting hairs for no reason. Pros 1. I was looking for a budget monitor with a good picture and high refresh rate and this filled the need I had. The picture is good, the refresh rate is great and a definite improvement. They have multiple inputs in case you want to hook up game consoles or other devices. I can't really comment on the audio since I use surround sound and disabled mine. The stands are made of metal and seem sturdy, but since I use VESA mounts I did not use. There are a few things I wasn't a fan of. First is the power cables, instead of the normal cable going to the monitor with the three prong connector, it has a power brick that plugs into the UPS or power strip. It is quite large and the plug orientation caused me to add a power strip since I could only use it in the end outlet. The manufacturer should add a cord from the power brick so that it takes up less room on the power strip and can be in whatever orientation is needed in my opinion. The second was minor, since I was using VESA mounts, I had to remove the metal stand post, which really wasn't hard, just a little awkward, removing two screws and wiggling it out of the mount around the tilt point. This isn't something I want it to do, but I thought it was worth mentioning that this isn't some secret use case - It just can't do this. The only con I've found is how this unit handles overscan. Tube TVs, by design, cut off a bit of the image for various picture quality reasons that are only really relevant to them. Not only does this not have any sort of compensation mode I could find, it actually makes the problem worse by overscanning slightly. Various tests determined the amount overscanned to be proportional to 10-15 pixels' worth off each side on a 1920x1080 picture, with the left and top duplicating a few pixels near the edge, which isn't a lot but depending on the overscan of your TV that can send anime subtitles halfway or more offscreen. I don't use the included Android TV dongle, so this review is not relevant on that front. This is installed in a dedicated movie room receiving a signal from an Dolby Atmos receiver. We have an Xbox, a Switch, and main TV is supplied by a Google Chromecast. Interestingly, the Chromecast supplies a 4k signal no matter what the native quality is, so it always runs in 4k unless we are on a game. We really love this projector, it is so bright, we run it on eco mode all the time, and it's still bright enough to watch with the limited lighting on in the room. The picture is crisp, and with the vertical adjustment, it is really easy to get installed without using Keystone which reduces performance. We have it mounted on the ceiling. It starts up very quickly, however, with the connection it needs to make to the Chromecast, it's not really much faster than our old bulb-type projector, in the long run. It's just usable at full brightness faster. What I'm saying is, it starts up fast, but takes the same amount of time to connect. It does occasionally lose signal, but I cannot confirm where the source of that issue is. It reconnects in 15-20 seconds. Happens every couple days or so, could be the long cables, could be a bad connection, I don't know. It's not a major issue, and hasn't happened while gaming, only movies, so it may be a 4k transmission issue. It's very quiet. It is large for a projector in my experience, the box is about twice as large as our former projector. As for the value, I think it was worth it, I'm glad I bought it. That being said, I don't know how the other one I would have bought would have compared. I wish there were a few more settings like our old projector, but we haven't really needed to adjust anything. Maybe it's not the most perfect real life accurate color, but it's bright and vivid and awesome for watching movies and shows. And it seems like it makes Rocket League more responsive, that may be the low latency, I don't know, I'm not an expert. But, then I built a dream machine. i7-14700K on an ASRock Z790 Riptide motherboard with lots of SSD's and NVME drives. 48 gigs of very fast RAM and two DVDRW's. I'm pretty good at this and I did my very best not to allow any bottlenecks and not spend money on silly things. It absolutely screams; it gets stuff done fast! I also have an older Intel computer, an AMD computer, and a Raspberry Pi in here. So I have an HDMI KVM switcher and an HDMI audio extractor (audio goes straight to a competent home stereo). So, I don't play any games anymore, but I do want to get stuff done! There came a point where I wanted to make use of this somewhat better video card that's better than anything I've ever used. (Still not for gaming, tho.) I scoured desertcart. I ended up getting an NVidia GeForce GTX 1660 used, that was DIRT cheap! I chewed my nails wondering if it was going to work, but it did and it does! From the first momen, for about 9 or 10 months! I forget how much memory it's got, but it's up there. So, now, I had this video card mostly going to waste (Except for hardware acceleration; that's really nice!) So, I measured how much room I have. If I looked at monitors with really thin frames around the screen and measured and did the math... I decided on 32 inches. I scoured desertcart again and got to this monitor: (KTC H32T13 32 Inch) I had a little trouble. First of all, I'm lazy. I was still building that i7 and I set the monitor aside after unpacking it and went through all my other stuff I had to do first. (The other 2 computers mentioned above both needed some help.) (And the computer room needed some rearranging.) There's also that fact that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old Viewsoni; there was no pressure... Anyway! From March 22nd until just now - two days ago - it just sat there. I don't even know where the quick start guide or whatever it is, went to, and I didn't want to conduct a lengthy search. Someone wrote that the power button is in a bad place. It's not that bad at all. I spent a little while finding it; reach your hand around the monitor's right side, near the bottom and feel for it. It sticks way out. The only time I have to reach for it is when I'm leaving the computer room to watch TV or go out or whatever. I can't reach it sitting down, but I'm getting up anyway at that point. Then I was totally puzzled, trying to figure out how to set the settings on the monitor. It wasn't bad, but I wanted to tweak the brightness, contrast, hue, gamma, etc. It took me quite a while to figure out that that power button, which is also a menu button (if you just touch it instead of holding it for three seconds) IS ALSO A JOYSTICK! Remember that! You can move it left, right, up, and down. Once I figured that out, it has a VERY logical, easy to use menu, unlike the Viewsonic mentioned about. The next problem I had was that a lot of things were ghosted in the menu and couldn't be selected. Scratching my head, I theorized that probably the video card was running the monitor and I turned to the NVidia Control Panel on the computer. There are at least three different places to set all that on that i7 machine, but it ended up being the screen display settings that did it. I love this monitor now! Plenty bright, fast, 2K, really great picture!! If the power button in the back is even a negative, I don't mind a bit. Everything else about it is outstanding! In about a minute, I had all those settings set. Beautiful bright, colorful screen! Perfect! I also have an older Silicon Dust HDHomeRun dual tuner. I encountered something that's never happened before! Watched \"The Rifleman\" in black and white. NEVER BEFORE have I had perfect black and white! Always some kind of tinge, usually in the dark places. I mean PERFECT black and white! Then I watched some stuff on Charge! (Streaming) and I adjusted color saturation and hue and got the skin tones right. Absolutely perfect picture, no matter what I do, now!! This is not a cheap budget monitor; this is an inexpensive performance monitor that works extremely well! I completely recommend it and I think it's a super nice deal for the money!!\nReview: Great lightweight monitor - Great monitor for the price. I love the combination of 24\" with 1440p for the high pixel density, but it is hard to find. I live in Paraguay at the moment and it is impossible to get 1440p monitors under 27\" here. And even those are really expensive compared to the US. So I had to import them from the US. The freight forwarder is payed by weight and it is pretty expensive, so I tried to find lightweight options. This monitor was a perfect fit for this requirement. The stand is almost all plastic and therefore a bit flimsy but light weight. The monitor itself is also pretty light. The overall build quality is still pretty decent and more importantly the screen itself is pretty good. Definitely good enough for office work or light color work like web design. I don't have a color calibrator or a really accurate screen to compare, but on it's own they look good. I got three and they all match pretty closely too. The three monitors with an outer desertcart box weight 13.6kg. With the extra shipping I payed around 230$ per monitor. Compared to the alternatives here I'm happy with the purchase. The thunderbolt 85W connector is either under or over powered for any laptop and using the monitor as a dock didn't work well.
