The weighted aeration hose size is described by its Inside Diameter (ID) so 3/8" I.D. or .375” I.D. is the size of the opening. The typical use is as aerator pump tubing and will work with other products that have a 3/8” connection such as an outdoor pond air pump, pond aerator diffuser, or air bubbler such as the ’s Choice for pond diffuser the Rootscape Large Pond Aerator and Bubbler Sinking Air Diffuser (All sold separately). The Rootscape Self Sinking Air Hose is easy to install. This cold weather pond tubing is also flexible. A solid yet flexible sinking hose
I was impressed at the heavy weight and flexibility of this black rubber hose. I was pleasantly surprised since I was comparing it to a barely flexible black air hose that I got with my old air compressor. This hose is much, much more pliable and easy to maneuver around the pond when installing it. It does indeed sink right to the bottom. I needed a about 15 extra feet and decided that that old air hose might work between the pump and the water. Indeed, the standard quick connect fittings I had for the air compressor allowed me to connect the old air hose directly to the sinking hose.UPDATE: It has been working 4 months and there have been no problems.
