Great laces, very strong, easy to tie
Honestly perplexed by some of the other reviews. These are great laces. Very strong, easy to tie, stay tied. Work with normal lacing methods, likely to need double knotting but who's not doing that already? They don't hurt your hands, the other reviewers most be overly sensitive. They unlace easy enough, you don't need to pull them through every loop. They're not quite black, more of a metalic grey / black.

Extremely strong, and takes getting used to
I've got boots that keep shredding laces (I think an edge on one of the eyelets is slicing them) so I bought these hoping they would be different, or at least no risk with the guarantee. The good news: they are strong. 4 pairs of laces lasted less than a month, after a month these iron laces aren't even scratched so I'm certainly happy they will last me a decent time. The difference: they are harsh. These laces have zero stretch or give in them. It took a while to get them laced just right because they don't stretch and balance out as you walk and don't dream about slipping shoes on and off. They are very grippy against the eyelets and against themselves. It takes a little getting used to, but they come off after an hour walk with exactly the same tightness as when I first tied them. I think it's a good thing, as long as you have boots with open hook eyelets at the top or loosening these could be hard The bad: these are very harsh on the fingers. Pulling tight is hard (see above) and if you pull the knot too tight it hurts to undo. You need to accept that a mild knot will still hold it reliably. They also arrive very dirty. Part of the manufacturing process seems to leave them with a black powder residue that really gets over your hands. I suggest when you buy them give them a lot of wiping before first use, or that the manufacturer does it before packaging. I'm happy with the laces, it's sort of what you want in a heavy pair of boots as long as you know what you are getting.

Very strong
Bought these to replace the laces in my new Scarpa walking boots as the original pair got a pull on them after a week. The seem very well made and I can envisage them lasting as long as the boots. We shall see! Usually I double knot my laces to stop them from loosening. However today I used a single knot to test them. After several hours only once did I have to re-tie one lace which is promising. Not the cheapest laces but most the time you get what you pay for and if these last like I think they will, its worth the extra money....Guranateed for life too but not sure how I go about claiming should they be compromised....So far so good 👍

Good but not perfect
Definitely don't last a lifetime, I've just purchased another pair after my pair from early 2022 finally snapped in my Altbergs, however they do last a LOT longer than normal laces. My original Altberg laces only lasted 6 months so can't really complain!

Tough laces that soften with use.
When you first get these laces they feel stiff and abrasive. After a short time they "soften" but never as soft as traditional laces, this isn't to say they get weaker...just easier on the fingers.. Initially they'll leave black lines on your fingers when you tie them. It feels like the black dye sits on the surface of the laces fibres and is ground against the other laces when they're tied this also means they fade slightly to a dark grey. Are they unbreakable? This pair outlasted the work boots I bought them for. The original laces that came with the boots lasted a few months before fraying quite badly. These had no visible damage after 7 months and other than the faded colour were as good as the day I laced them onto the boots. The only reason I changed them was that my new boots needed longer laces....so I immediately bought a longer set of these.

Durable laces
Strong sturdy shoe laces. Even when they get wet it doesn’t affect the material great investment for hiking boots. Worth every penny as I’ve had to replace the laces a few times before buying these and these laces have lasted a couple of years so far.

Strong but Dirty
The seem strong enough but the black gunk that comes off everywhere is ridiculous. Just sell them as dark grey. Has stained the leather of my very expensive boots.

The best boot laces.
I do a lot of work on farms and in all conditions and these have outlasted my last 2 pairs of boots and still going strong.

Very strong and tough laces. They will almost certainly outlast most workboots. I would prefer metal aglets as opposed to plastic. You will initially find them to be very stiff and slightly difficult to tie for the first few weeks of wear, and you should double knot them lest they come untied. Once they are broken in, they are comparable to other laces in terms of feel. I have two hard wildland fire seasons on these laces and have subjected them to repeated soakings, unimaginable muskeg gunk, jet-A aviation fuel, month-long periods of dampness, ash pits, and other forms of abuse that the average boot-lace should not be subjected to. If anything, this has just helped to break them in. The laces have faded to a dull grey (originally brown), but if you are buying these, you shouldn't really give a damn about the colour. After two wildland seasons, the plastic aglets are beginning to delaminate, but this this has not yet affected the integrity of the lace itself.

Hält. Hält einfach. Verliert die braune Farbe dabei, weil die einfach beim Schnüren laufend abgerieben wird, aber.... Hält.

A solid, good quality lace with more than enough length. Laces are thin and stiff; the rough exterior actually prevents lace knot from untying. The color is versatile and goes with different shades of brown and tan shoes. I do recommend this product.

The product was received promptly and sealed in original packaging. I can't comment on their durability yet as I haven't had them long enough but I will update (particularly if they don't last as long as I hope). However, they look and feel to be very high quality. As noted by others, the laces are relatively thin. In fairness, that info is provided in the item description (they are 1/8" or 3mm across). I've uploaded images showing the IronLace next to the ones being replaced so you can see the size difference though I should note that the old ones have swollen a bit with use over time. The size of the laces, as well as the solid aglets (tight and strong), made lacing the boots very easy. The laces themselves are stiff with a slight texture to them. I don't mind the stiffness and had no issues using them as-is out of the box. To this point I haven't had any issue with them loosening or becoming untied. I got the black version and, as the images show, they are more of a very dark grey, close to black but not a true black. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase at this point.
