Our Daily Bread Gift Edition Leather Bound – September 1, 2010

My dad is a "subscriber" to the Daily Bread readers and has received one each month for several years now. He loves this collection. It is not so much that it is unique from the monthly readers; instead, this is just a beautiful presentation and makes a nice gift for someone that likes reading daily scriptures. The texts are short and personal enough that many people from different walks of life can still appreciate the "sermons".

Being from Southern California , we don't find the pamphlet forms that these devotional readings can apparently be available in. I guess they are often found in restaurants, coffee chops etc.. in the North Eastern US . (According to here-say) Thankfully these have been bound together in book form so those of us who never knew of them can have the opportunity to now spend some truly high quality devotional time with the Creator. I personally like simple, straightforward, messages that get to the heart of the matter being discussed. The daily readings in this book provide just that! It's simple, you are given a passage of scripture to read, then, you have a story from somebody's modern life experience, and a prayer to follow. Not hard, not too time consuming, just right for the person on the go , or the person who is at home and finds the daily chores of living to be overwhelming. (Can you say "AGG! Not another of the cat's hair balls?")In a world where it becomes increasingly difficult to find 'shoot from the hip' Christian food for thought, this book delivers just what's needed for the day that can often require so much of our time. Now one can have the time to feel spiritually refreshed every day. I was searching for quite some time for a decent daily devotional. The search is over, thank you Father, Son & Holy Spirit for the folks who put this clear, concise, book together.

Our Church orders the "Our Daily Bread" in paperback by the quarter and it is a great little daily devotional book for those who don't have a lot of time. Having this Year long Devotional book all in one and leather bound is a very nice gift. The gold edged pages and the design make for a very nice gift at a very reasonable price. I ordered more after I received the first one as I was so pleased.

Good Study Book

I ordered these as Christmas gifts for the guys in my family. Upon receipt I paged through the book and wished I'd ordered one for myself. Pages are of top quality paper and the smooth leather cover and binding should keep this book on the bedside table way beyond 2012. The daily devotionals are well written and can be re-read year after year.

Can be read every year and still say something. The authors are not of C. S. Lewis quality thinking, but they are trying to impart the same type of thinking to the reader.

I have been searching for a long time for a Devotional Book whos format includes a bible passage to be read each day and a little lesson (for lack of a better description.) I was given a few books by friends and also thought I had found what I was looking for in the past, but none fit exactly what I was looking for. I saw a review for this particular book somewhere and realized this was exactly what I was looking for. I liked it so much, I also ordered one for my Best Girlfriend for Christmas.Lady Wizard

During a rough time in my life the devotions each day encouraged me and pointed me towards hope. Will buy again as a gift for those who experience tough times.
