All in One Mushroom Grow Bag

This product is fantastic and Outgrow as a company is also a great bunch of people. I got my "All In One" grow bag and had a contamination issue (Bacterial not a mold or fungus) Outgrow was very quick to respond to me emails and replaced the bag right away once they saw it was contaminated. Customer service with them is excellent and honest! I will be ordering from them until the wheels fall off! I was totally blown away in a very positive way by my whole experience even though some of it wasn't optimal, I learned something important about Straw/Rye Berries/Manure in a closed ecosystem and the problems that can arise from that. Finally I will add this. I had 2 golf ball sized pieces of Mycelium survive the contamination, because I'm not someone with rigid beliefs and I was shooting for a silver lining I rinsed off the Mycelium, Pasteurized the contaminated substrate @190 degrees (A little high but I was trying to kill bacteria) until it went from smelling like gross feet to a woody mushroom smell. I took a small aluminum pie dish (Palm sized), sterilized it and reintroduced the living mycelium to the substrate. Today I'm about 5 days away from fruiting. Granted it is a very small amount of what was originally in the bag but because it was a sealed secure ecosystem trouble shooting and trying something to salvage something from the contamination worked for me this time. I wouldn't have been able to salvage anything if this was a substandard product. These guys have a great option for people interested in mycology but who isn't an expert cultivator yet, and if something goes wrong that you as a customer had nothing to do with as far as contamination they would in theory replace your bag like they did mine. Been using this product for several years now. It’s a great option when you don’t have time to do it yourself. I’ve never had an issue with the product but I believe that the vendor would do what’s necessary to maintain a good relationship should something go wrong on their end. I’ve had these blocks fruit for as long as four months in a shotgun fruiting chamber which any mixologist knows speaks volumes for the quality of this vendor’s products. And I usually get my orders really fast, it’s usually several days before Amazon predicts.

I am a mushroom growing enthusiast with some level of experience and competency. I thought I would give these grow bags a try because they looked like the perfect little project for someone who would like to dip their feet into mycology without the hassle of complicated preparation procedures. I bought 3 bags. I took inoculation seriously: flame sterilized my syringe between bags in a clean still-air box. Unfortunately 2 of my bags failed. One had black mold and the other had a bright purple contamination. For full transparency: My third bag, however, performed exceptionally well. I got a satisfying amount of Enoki with several flushes each a little bigger than the last. I cannot leave a positive review for these bags because 2/3 had contamination. I used a professional syringe and careful sterilization procedures. The contamination was different in both my bad bags. I understand that contamination happens in this hobby, You have to account for it(thus me buying three bags when I really only needed one). However, I feel as though I received a poor product that had not been prepared properly. I would be willing to update/change this review if the vendor is willing to contact me and send 2 replacement bags that have been more thoroughly prepared than the bags I initially bought. My advice: If you choose try this product out and buy twice as many bags as you think you need. When they do work they produce quite well. I lost out on about $50 here. I'm still a fan of the vendor but I got burned and I am left unsatisfied.

Product shipped quicker than I expected. The first bag I ordered never grew any oysters. A few days of inoculation I started noticing a reddish brown almost rust-looking deposit on the rye berries. Not sure if that was a bacterial growth, fungal contamination, or some kind of chemical reaction between the ingredients and the moisture, as I had ordered the bag during the height of the summer. But it's arguably my fault as I had waited a couple of days to inoculate the bag to begin with. I almost gave up on the whole growing oyster mushrooms adventure, but I read some of the competitor reviews and decided to give Out Grow one more try. When I got the second bag in the mail, I inoculated it the very same day. I first saw signs of life on day 3 but also started to see some brown slimey looking juice on the bottom of the bag, which had me worried. I patiently watched the bag and tried not to disturb it. The slime juice grew, but so did the white of the mycelium. The race was on. Eventually there was a solidly demarcated white colonization meeting the wet brown rye berries. I decided to take the risk and shake up the bag maybe a few days early, betting that the water is just condensation and contamination, hoping that I could just redistribute the moisture. But I wasn't sure how much to mix up the ingredients in the bag. The moisture did even out and so far the mycelial growth going strong, but I'm not sure if I should have shaken the bag until the straw and the manure were equally mixed with the rye berries? The bag still isn't fully colonized but it hasn't been more that four weeks yet. Does anyone know if I should shake things up further so more of the manure is mixed with the rye berries?

I’ve tried many Of the easiest different methods and all in one grow bags from 7 different companies and this company is the only one out of the 7 to have successful fruiting. Period. If you’re having trouble with contamination please work in the most sterile of conditions. Use a still box or pantry, a room with no air flow (ac) and NO carpet. Set yourself up for success. I did with all 7 companies and still only Out Grow showed success. I had controls placed, Good spores, sterile environment, temperature controls and out grow succeeded. It’s a shame some companies take advantage because this particular cultivation is sensitive and user error is likely the reason things don’t work out. Out of all the companies I used to see who is honest and with quality products at a decent $ Out Grow was the only one to show its true colors with successful fruiting and zero contamination.

I got 2 bag. Did them the same way, one is colonizing, the other got really soggy and never dried out after 3 weeks. I use the spore within 2 days on get the substrate. Do your research. Don't put too much liquid in. Stay sterile. We will see if bag number 1 cones through. About to start pinning in a day or so
