It doesn't sound like seagulls!!!
I've only been playing for a few weeks but in that time I've purchased several whistles. Since many are inexpensive I was interested in trying different types to see if one felt better to me. I was most happy (so far) with the playability of my brass Generation D so I decided to try out the Nickel version. It became my favorite immediately! I like the look of the Nickel more than the brass and it has a nice feel in your hands although I'm not sure if there is any real weight difference in the two. The best part was it seemed easier to play than any of my others; I was able to play the D without screeching and when I attempted high notes they actually sounded like notes and not like I was being attacked by seagulls!I actually feel like I will be able to play music and not just practice scales forever!I have heard that because of the way the whistles are made you can buy several of the same brand and have a few duds, so this may have been my lucky draw, but if my experience is any indication of this whistles character I hope you try it out.As far as the tone goes I'm afraid I'm a little too inexperienced still to offer an educated critique but it sounds nice to me and again, being able to play the notes well as soon as I got it out of the package was a nice surprise and a boost to my motivation! It did arrive in a mailing envelope and not a box but was in excellent condition.

FUN AND SMALL!
I like it because it is so small. It's just like playing any other whistle, the notes are just different. One can carry it in his pocket. Bit of a dirty tone. I like that. Very high pitched. Alot of fun. Just tonight I put my D away and started playing this one. FUN! PW

The construction and aesthetics of it are sturdy and beautiful
The construction and aesthetics of it are sturdy and beautiful. The sound did not aound that great but in conparison to a clarke or some of the ither cheaper whistles it was better. It sounds good enough to play out of the box but it should be tweaked to get a richer tone and smoother notes, as well as being able to tune it, as its not in tune. I tweaked mine and it siunds a bit better, however I kind of messed up in the tweaking attempt. So it doesnt sound as good as it should. But if you do it right, it will sound terrific and worth the money in light of some of the more expensive whistles.

Awesome whistle
My girlfriend lives it. Took a few days longer to get here than Amazon projected, but that happens sometimes. Small high pitched whistle. Excellent sound and quality. Very shiny.

Not practical
It's tiny, difficult to play, and not particularly pleasing to the ear (at least not my ear). I have a Generation D whistle as well, and It's s a nice instrument, and I'm sure someone out there is happy with the G model, but I can't recommend it.

WAAAY sharp.
I bought the nickel one because I want a slightly harsher sound for some tunes, like Old Joe Clark. As soon as it arrived I ran a few scales and it sounded odd. I put it to a Korg CA50 tuner. D hovered near D sharp, and G was definitely G#. I thought it could be fixed by the hot water trick, but that doesn’t work. I ha e some brass Generations I bought 40 or so years ago and they’re a little sharp, but nowhere near as bad as this. I’m going to try to return it, but I tore the box open.

Great tone
I’ve wanted to like to play tin penny whistles. I have a couple but the sound was so windy I didn’t really like them that much. On a whim, I thought I’d give this one a try - different brand, key, and material than my other two. To my delight, the sound on this one is so much sharper and clearer. I really like this one!

Perfection.
Generation's nickel whistles, although occasionally benefitting from a minor tweak, are fantastic. They have a clear, bell like tone, they are well-playable in both octaves, and they are affordable. The B-flat, E-flat, and F Generations in nickel stand up to other boutique whistles that command quadruple the price. The brass ones are very nice, too, although I find the "purer" tone of the nickel ones far preferable.

Good value and sound for the price.
This is a solid instrument with nice tone. Thank you

Good quality SMALL HIGH PITCHED whistle!
I thought this was going to be lower pitched (larger) than your standard penny whistle but it is actually high pitched and quite small...the wholes are very close together...a ittle cramped while playing

A good whistle
Generation is probably the most ubiquitous of all whistles - Paddy Maloney of The Cheiftains plerformed on one. I learned to play on a Generation and, although I have various (and much more expensive) whistles for particular situations, the Generation is a good allrounder and, because it is cheap, one doesn't worry so much about forgetting it in a pub.
