Incredible results!
I had read the positive reviews with skepticism, but at that point was ready to try anything to help control the dense bacterial bloom and dino algae growth. It had gotten so bad one could hardly see the fish! (sorry I didn't take a before photo..) I hooked this device inline with my Fluval filter (did have to get a new hose and connectors) but once turned on, it took only 24 hours to start seeing a difference! The bacteria bloom is almost gone; I'm hoping the dino's start disappearing soon.

Great for fishtank water sterilization
The unit was a pain in the ars to get hose and adapters to fit after my eheim pump, as the hang-on side version is easier to install for eheim tubing. Yet this is a huge benefit for my fish tank, as it is strong enough to kill parasites/bacterial diseases as well as algae. My water is perpetually crystal clear, more so than even new tank water , without even the tiny particulates. It looks like the water was polished and of high clarity. The only dowmfall is that the water clarity MISLEADS YOU into thinking the water is clean and not need water changes... YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN water changes so the amonia build up won't happen (from fish pissing & waste), plus to stimulate fish growth. You can offset some water maintenance by increased biological filtration, but water changes are just mandatory. Don't let the extreme clarity of the water from this UV fool you.. It's a great product for keeping your fish safe from harmful disease, unlike the weaker UV. Don't buy any UV less watts than this one or you won't gain the benefit of parasite killing UV levels ..

Super UV light (Read Below)
I have this mounted on my return pump from my refugium. It fits very well and was extremely easy to set-up. In addition I have it on a timer, so I don't run it 24hours a day. I shut it down at 9pm and back on at 7am. My water is crystal clear.. In my opinion every tank should have some kind of UV lighting. Just remember this kills all the bacteria in the water including the good stuff. Installing the light is a snap. Be sure to test your sealing by flowing water for at least a half hour before inserting the bulb system. You don't want even a drop of leakage. It MUST be 100% sealed. update 11/23 Still going strong and working like a champ. Reef tank is crystal clear and NO algae. UPDATE: 1-28-2018 Still running perfectly crystal clear water.. UPDATE 7-13-2019 STILL RUNNING PERFECTLY, going to replace my second bulb. I have the unit on two quick disconnects and it is perfect. NEVER had a leak or a problem all this time

great way to clear up water fast
this product was really nice in the way of clearing up my murky water. I never was able to seem to get the water polished to look good. once I was able to install this UV light, my water cleared up within just a few days. only down side was actually installing this in my outflow line. the inlet and outlet on this unit is sized for 3/4" ID while most standard ID for canister filters is 5/8". so in order to get this unit installed, I had to head over to a plumber supply store and find a bunch of random parts to get from 5/8" up to 3/4", into the unit, then from the 3/4" down to 5/8". it was rather complicated and involved some ingenuity to figure out how to get it to flow correctly and not leak. but once installed correctly, works wonders!

Some parts of the plastic body are pretty fragile and came damaged
This a review of general built quality and design. The unit was returned without being connected so I can't advice if it works (but hopefully it does and that's the reason for three stars and not one). Some parts of the plastic body are pretty fragile and came damaged. 1) The translucent cap had a crack under teflon tape. There seems to be no point in the teflon tape (other than to hide the defect) in general as there has to be no water under that connection. The quartz sleeve (glass tube) is "permanently" inserted in the main body through a very tight purple rubber seal. That connection can not be adjusted/tightened and that "gasket" is the only thing that stops water from contacting the electric circuit. While it feels very tight I do not like the idea of water hitting the electrics. And while there is no nut to tighten the connection I am not confident it is watertight in a long run. I would not put that type of connection in my house plumbing lines. 2) I also do not see how it is possible to clean the quartz sleeve or the interior of the unit in general or to perform any maintenance other than lamp replacement. I tried to take the sleeve out but it seems impossible and I did not want to risk breaking it. I would not be surprised if it is actually glued to that purple gasket. 3) The UV lamp has two small balls rolling loosely inside. Also both ends under the blue caps show rust/burn marks. Overall I think I have received a used/refurbished unit. I think that the lamp should work fine if the unit you get is not damaged however the design (impossible to clean) drawbacks are just to much of a compromise for a $125 "premium" product. In a year you will have to replace it with new unit if hopefully it does not fry your tank. I'll try my luck with their classic unit and see how that works out. It is more money but I'll see if it is worth it.
