Skil SB18B-LI Slide Base Battery Pack

Came packed with another product but in its original package. Works very well and has charge light indicators as to how much charge is left. It doesn't slow down while using it up to its limit. It will just keep working until there is no charge left. It only takes about 30 minutes to be recharged fully. Out performs the original battery and is a lot lighter to use. I highly recommend this battery even though it is a little more expensive than the original Ni Cad it outperforms it by about 70 percent. Unlike the Ni Cad battery's it has no memory. This allows you to recharge the battery to its full capacity at any charge.

A nice option to buying a new set of lithium tools, at least for my needs. So far, so good. These batteries are easy to remove, unlike the old ni-cad batteries which became impossible. They seem more powerful, and hold a charge well. Run time seems good, and they charge quickly. Being half the size and weight as the ni-cads is also a plus.I don't think that most people are going to want to invest more money in 2 batteries and a charger than they paid for a complete tool set, but I like the tools (even though the color design Skil used makes them look like a kid's toy raygun), and I especially like the drill and circular saw. I didn't want to just throw the set away. Also, this is the only cordless brand I've seen where the circular saw's blade is on the right, which works for southpaws. I can see the line as I cut. Re-use made sense for me, anyway, since I can't easily or cheaply replace the lefty saw.

DID NOT WORK FIRST TIMEI purchased this item about 11 weeks ago. Did not use it until just now. I inserted this battery pack into a SKIL SC118C-LI 2.6AHR Dual Chemical Charger also ordered 11 weeks ago. The green light on the charger started winking, indicating it was charging. About 15 minutes later I looked at the charger and the green light had stopped winking and turned to a continuous green. I inserted the battery pack into my Skil XDrive 18 volt drill model # 2887-B2 / F012 2887 02. I squeezed the trigger. The drill ran just fine.About half an hour later I went to the worksite, took out the drill, and pulled the trigger. Nada. Nothing. Nichts. Drill did not even rotate. So, I am giving this one star. Could be either a dud charger (that undercharged but indicated full charge) or a dud battery (lost charge in 30 minutes).WORKED WELL SOME WEEKS LATERWhile it did not work the first time I tried to use it, I gave it a last chance a few weeks ago, because otherwise I would have tossed it. And lo, and behold, it surprised me and worked very well and has held a good amount of charge up till now, providing good power to the drill.

Worth every penny. This battery is for the Skil drill the equivalent of custom wheels and tires and a lift kit for your truck. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars for a brand new drill at one of the big box stores that actually have this battery in them you can continue using fantastic product upgrade the battery to current technology. Charges quickly and delivers consistent power during use. One of the biggest benefits as you can pre charge these batteries and store them. I have had this battery hold a charge for more than eight months and perform consistently

In the description it says this is a battery kit, a kit consists of more than one item, I thought I was buying a battery and charger. No, you just get a battery, now I have to purchase a charger, not very happy...

I have used these along with the ni-cad sb18c batteries. I get slightly longer run time with these than with the larger and heaver ni-cad version.I have several tools that use these 18v SelectSystem batteries and I get close to the same run-time in my drill, and small circular saw as I do with the smaller Makita 18v batteries used in some of the tools my co-workers use.Both companies offer larger capacity LI batteries. While I have not yet purchaced the SB18C-LI batteries that have twice the charge capacity that these sb18b-LI batteries do. I expect similar performance to the larger makita 18v batteries.One advantage that these have over the batteries that are used in Makita 18v tools, is that these have battery charge indicator lights, making it easy to tell how much of a charge is left.

I purchased this item as well as a SKIL SC118CLI charger to go with it. Once I received it, I didn't really have a need for it right away, but a few weeks later I needed to use my drill so I unpacked the battery and put it on the charger. Whenever I plug it on there, the red light blinks. I read the troubleshooting manual and it says that if the red light blinks, then the battery is "too hot" or possibly defective. Since it has never been used and isn't "too hot" I have to assume this is defective. Unfortunately, it now says I can't return it. HELP.....I paid $50 for a worthless item and now I still don't have a battery for my drill.

Finally, I got fed up with my NiCad/Ni-MH batteries to a point that I shelled out money for Li-Ion packs.Why did I do that? Well, any time I needed to use my power tools I had to recharge NiMh battery packs.Right, I need my power tool NOW and I need to charge it for like an hour?Nope, not anymore, not again. I need to use that power tool NOW.So, I did some checking and I found out that these Li-Ion packs fit my skill tools.I charged them up the moment I got them, used them next day and it worked as it should.No quick or unpredictable run-down. It just runs.And, as an added bonus the tools are now lot lighter with Li-Ion packs.I recommend this to anyone who is getting tired of recharging Ni-Mh before each use.

I have 2 cordless Skil drills but one of them had a Ni Cd battery which ran out of juice much too quickly. The other drill has the SB18BC-LI Lithium ion battery that just seems to keep going and going. I found out that the Li ion battery is compatible with the drill that came with the Ni Cd battery so ordering this one was a good fit. The Li ion batteries charge fairly quickly as well.The only down side for me is the price. Had we gone to Arizona this winter I could have bought and had freely delivered the same battery at just a bit more than half of what I had to pay for this one from Amazon.ca.Good product; nasty price in Canada.

What I was looking for to replace batteries that did not hold a charge. Also had to buy a new charger (old one would not accept new battery), which was not clear in information listed on site.

Does not hold a charge very long. my old battery is a lot better. Must have been shipped an older used product.
