Excellent Value and Addition to any MacBook Pro
I like the fact that the usb-c side is solidly fit and will not slide out, once in. Also, love the little tool provided to help take it out, if you need to make room for other accessories. However, to maintain the stability of the usb-c slot, I recommend leaving the magnetic adapter in. the magnetic adapter is perfect for recharging your computer, like the old days with the mag-safe cord, also you can use it to attach other accessories, like a usb flash drive or external hard drive. This magnetic adapter comes in a nicely packed box protected with foam rubber, and I nice service guarantee card from the company. Lastly, when connected, there is a nice little green light that shines to show you that it is working. Very sleek, and I feel good about never jerking cords and/or harming the usb-c slot. The magnetic connection is strong; I do suggest straightening your MacBook Pro power cord, as the rounded kink will turn and spring the magnet off the adapter. Play with it, try different scenarios, and you will find that it is a great addition to your MacBook Pro setup! I am very happy with this addition, and the customer service that this company provides. I know I am in good hands, should there ever be a problem.

This is what USB-C should be.
I purchased this adapter (two of them actually) to use with my HP Spectre 360 laptop and they work perfectly. Not only do I take that laptop on the road, but I also have a USB-C docking station that I use when I'm at home. Since the USB-C ports on this PC are used for practically everything (charging, docking, etc.), I wanted a way to protect them from wear and at the same time, make it easier for me to connect and disconnect my PC.The first adapter that I purchased I used between the PC and my USB-C dock. That dock drives two (2) 4k monitors, an external USB-3.0 hub, as well as charging my laptop. This adapter works every bit as well as plugging my dock directly into my PC, except that with this adapter it is much easier to connect and disconnect the two.The second adapter serves a similar purpose but I use it to connect the cable between the charging brick and my PC. Not only does this magnetic connection make that a safer coupling as it (hopefully) would just break free if someone tripped on the cable or something, but it also solved another problem I was having with the power connection on my computer. On this model computer, the USB-C ports are both on the right side. That fact, coupled with the fact that the power cable on this machine is pretty thick and heavy posed a problem when I was using the computer by itself on a table with an external mouse. the power cable ran right through where I would move my mouse. Because this adapter is a right angle adapter, when I added this to the end of the power cable, it directed the power cable away from me and out of the way of the mouse.Overall this is a great product. The magnets are strong enough without being too strong, the electrical connection seems very stable, and these support at least a large number of USB-C protocols, if not all of them. Given that these adapters appear to be an exact pin for pin mapping from the USB plug to the jack, I believe that these would support all the protocols. I'm very satisfied with these purchases.

The best replacement for Apple MagSafe I have found so far, and works on other computers too.
USB-C is great in many ways, but I have found it to be not as robust as regular rectangular USB-A or Apple MagSafe. Over time, my USB-C cords/ports have lost the tension that holds them in place, and they now fall out easily. Because of this, I want to limit the amount of unplugging/plugging that I do to reduce wear. I also appreciate the simplicity and safety of a quick attach/detach magnetic coupling.Until now, all of the magnetic adapters for charging had limitations I did not want to accept, ie. no data, directional, not enough force to hold it on, limits charging current...This is the first MagSafe like adapter I have tried that I actually like.- It charges my 2017 MacBook Pro 15 at the full 87 watts.- It is reversible, so I can connect it either way.- It holds on reasonably well, although not as well as real Apple MagSafe.- It will work with data, although I think that is risky as an inadvertent disconnect could cause problems or data loss.- It doesn't stick out far enough to be a bother, and it still fits in my laptop cases.- I like the 90 degree design so the cable isn't sticking out straight from the port.- Gold contacts to prevent corrosion- Since it is an adapter, it can be used on any cable you prefer.- It can be used with any USB-C deviceIt does have a few negatives:- It is long and may block the port next to it depending on how wide the other item to be plugged in is. Most cables will fit just fine in the adjacent port on the MacBook while the magnet is not attached, so it won’t be a bother to leave the computer side of the magnet in place indefinitely. The length contributes to how well it holds together, so I am perfectly willing to accept a blocked port.- The length also may prevent it from seating completely with some clamshell cases that only have cutouts for a regular size plug.- It still isn't quite as good as real Apple MagSafe. The magnets could be stronger, as it falls off or gets bumped off much more easily than MagSafe. It is, however, perfectly usable and I will continue to use it every time for charging until something better comes along. Part of the issue is it is an adapter, and not just the end of a cable like MagSafe, so more leverage is applied to the magnet. Apple MagSafe had a really flexible cord that usually fell apart over time and was expensive to replace, but since the magnet was built into the cord, the assembly was very short and stayed in place better.Apple MagSafe wasn't perfect either, so these tradeoffs are worth it to me, and I think this is a very well designed product.

Sporadic connection- USB type c hub to display extended monitors!
Updates as of 13th Aug 2021. Seems like the item issues surfaces out with time. Sporadic connection. Buy at own risk. This is the 3rd purchase. It’s working great.Purpose of use: connection of laptop to USB type c hub to display 2 external monitors. The hub used is a 16 port hyperdrive which works perfectly. This magnetic adaptor is what I was looking for. Provide great connectivity to external monitors while it’s easy to remove and connect in just a few seconds. No more fidgeting to insert and remove the type c cable from and into the laptop.

Quality product
Pity Apple chose to remove the magnetic charging port. Thankfully this product was available & works well

Fit for purpose
Always check charging has commenced. Cord weight/twist can hinder positive docking. Well conceived.

Changes and connects Thunderbolt video with MacBook Pro
Love this! The 90 degree angle avoids wasting space on the desk.

Broke itself AND broke my USB-C charge cable after 3 months
I really did miss the MagSafe port when I upgraded to a MacBook Pro 16" and this has done an okay (slightly hideous) job of filling that void. 3 months into use, the adapter is starting to play up, perhaps it's overheating but basically the power supply to my computer will just shut off even thought he green LED is on (this LED stayed on even when I removed the charger from my computer, so I think something is definitely playing up).UPDATE: turns out that when the adapter broke, it must have damaged my USB-C charging cable as well as that needed replacing after the adapter broke. Do not recommend. Finally, as other reviewers have mentioned, there are no support links in sight so perhaps look elsewhere—the packaging that the adapter came in didn't fill me with confidence as it looked quite dodgy.
