Based on true events, The Ouija Experiment tells the story of five friends who decide to record their experiments with a Ouija board. This found footage film follows the five friends as they reach out to the spirits, but when they break the first rule of Ouija boards and leave without saying goodbye, they inadvertently invite the spirits into their lives. As the spirits hunt down them one by one, the remaining friends must uncover the truth behind the spirits' deaths and destroy the board before it destroys them.

Nothing New ....Same Ol' stuff.
Friends get together, friends play with Ouija board, friends let demons out, friends die, and luckily they get it all on tape! Astonishing! The usual Ouija board fare. The main problem is these friends fight a lot and they forget to say goodbye to the spirits which leaves them in our world instead of where they're supposed to be. The one character who brings a little comedy to it all is the philanderer boyfriend who texted and flirts right under his girl friends nose. It was a little silly to me; but my nephew jumped a few times and seemed to like it. I wouldn't waste money on renting this one. Wait till it's on the prime list or something.

Ouija board horror done found footage style!
This little indie flick proves that you can deliver intense scares with a minuscule budget and minimal CGI. I knew as the movie progressed that this was going to be one of my all-time favorite found footage films, a generally hit or miss horror subgenre. The plot is just what you’d expect; a group of friends gets together and messes with a board while one friend films it. Right off the bat, anyone who has used a Ouija board will appreciate the authenticity of the movement of the planchette: the way it begins to take on a life of its own, the frantic patterns it seems to follow, and the moments when it’s going so fast it kind of jumps out from under your fingers. We meet a refreshingly diverse and likable group. After their characters and relationships are set up through some lighthearted, funny exchanges, we get right into the Ouija action. And that’s where the slow burn begins. There’s a natural buildup to the eventual unleashing of a malevolent spirit. When the evil finally escapes, the tension and terror totally spikes. This is some of the best use of camera POV to deliver jump scares and ghost appearances that I’ve seen yet in a found footage film. It really rivals most of the visual shocks in the Paranormal Activity franchise. And speaking of, director Israel Luna is well aware of his inspirations for the film and makes sure the characters reference them: The Entity, Paranormal Activity, Witchboard (including a funny reference to the Whitesnake connection). There’s even what seems to be a wink to The Blair Witch Project involving someone standing in a corner. Creepy. As with most found footage films, you can expect a few instances of questionable continuity. Why, for instance, does one chick seem doubtful of one of the guys having seen ghosts after she had a major ghost confrontation herself…which she doesn’t even mention? And there’s the usual pondering of why they never put down the camera—but here, they are pretty much intent on documenting what’s happening and don’t particularly believe the ghosts mean them harm because they think they’ve befriended them through the Ouija board. The series of ghost sequences in the second half of the movie are brilliantly handled. I nearly peed myself a few times. And eventually, we get a flashback segment showing the malevolent ghost’s motivation, which is like a short horror film in itself, complete with a great little twist. And the surprises don’t stop coming until the very end of the movie.Sure, it’s a found footage flick and a Ouija board flick, but the exclamation point at the conclusion of The Ouija Experiment reminds us that it is also one hell of a ghost story.

Good film, bad ending
I enjoyed the first half of this film. Interesting story, good acting, believable paranormal contact. Then the second half went off the rails completely. Spoilers ahead aware: You find your brother murdered and possessed and you just leave and don't call the police, wtf? You have a way of immediately ending the carnage and you don't right then burn the board right away, wtf? Ghosts wielding butcher knives, really, wtf? A lot of potential brought down by an implausible second half.

So terrible it's good
We frequently have "bad horror movie nights," as my wife gets scared a lot more easily than I do and hates gore, but loves found footage. Ouija Experiment was one of the films we watched during one of those evenings, and it is so bad that it's almost good. The acting is sub-par and it's definitely a cliché of the genre, but it was good for a few small jump scares and to giggle at together. Worth a watch if you're in the mood for a "so bad it's good" film (and if you have prime), but definitely not worth a purchase in my opinion.

Not terribly scary if you don't mess with Ouija boards
It was OK overall. Worth a watch. Not terribly scary if you don't mess with Ouija boards. If you do, maybe you will learn something from this movie. Maybe you will be too scared to even try to begin with.

Worth watching if you want a creepy ghost movie
I liked it. It had a lot of jumpy parts and was pretty creepy. I was entertained and very impressed how good it was for low budget. I actually screamed a few times. It's definitely entertaining. It made me feel like I was actually there with the actors. It seemed candid and real.

Rating on Ouija Experiment movie
It was a decent movie but was not as good as I expected. I am a horror movie fan and this movie just didn't give me the scare factor I expected after seeing the commercials for it.
