Strike One, your're, out?
This is probably the first time that I've ever purchased an appliance that is considered "dead on arrival". I'm a geek, I'm used to this happening with hard drives, RAM, video cards but never an actual appliance so I guess it was bound to happen. I plugged the device in, turned the switch on, set up the app, created my Petwant account and added the device to wifi successfully. I set up 4 feedings for my kitten and then decided to manually dispense 1 portion to see what amount would come out (I know it's 12- nothing but the cute sound the device makes to let you and the pet know food's-a-comin'. The app then displays a notification saying "device happens faults - 0 copies fed". OK, I think, maybe I put too much food in or maybe the food didn't settle so I take out 3/4 of it and try again. Nada. I take it all out. Nada. Now I'm getting desperate because I want this thing to work and cannot believe it is truly DoA so I unplug it, plug it back, turn it off and on, reset it. Suffice it to say, it is dead. I've put in for a replacement and if that doesn't work I guess I'll just have to move on to the next brand. DoA can and does happen, so I get it, but I'm not impressed and I am sort of worried that it'll just stop working a few months down the line. Buyer Beware, I guess. Will update when I get my replacement tomorrow. As an initial review otherwise, I do like the device. It's fairly simple. You dump dry food in, set your app timers and it dispenses the food (when it works) depending on the amount and time of day you set. You can perform manual feedings. The food storage tray and the tray the food dispenses into are easily washable. The device makes a noise whenever food is dispensed (I mentioned this before) and it's loud enough so as to let the animal hear it (as well as you) from the general vicinity but not super annoying. You can turn it off, in case it IS annoying. The app interface is dead simple.Update: (08/29/19)The replacement works, yay! Dispenses just the right amount for my kitten. If there's too much food, the device stops spitting out more which is pretty neat, that means it will not "overflow" the food on to the floor - a very thoughtful feature. So far, so good.Added 3 stars.

Updated review: automated feeding stops intermittently
Set up was fairly easy, I am hopeful about this product. Will update with a more detailed review in a few days.Update:This worked well for a few months and then it would not dispense food suddenly and I had no idea it wasn't dispensing food so my poor cats were starved for a few days!!!If this worked all the time it would be a 5 star item. I hate that my cats were starved and I had no idea. You either have to check religiously on the app every day to make sure automated feeding is working or your pets will starve like mine did =/Because of how fickle this unit is you may not even be able to leave for vacation and depend on it to feed your pets.

Only use the BLACK AND WHITE logo Petwant app in app store! Works great!
Works perfectly! Initially I was confused setting it up because there are two Petwant apps in the Android store. This ONLY works with the app with the BLACK AND WHITE logo of a line drawing of the dog or cat's face. Not the one with the orange logo. Here's the details:- I'm using this for my small 18lb dog who recently started experiencing gastric reflux and ideally needs to eat about 5 times a day now instead of her usual 2 meals a day. I thought this might be an easier solution than doing it myself endlessly.- I measured what 1 portion dispenses and with my food it's approximately 10 grams. Yours may vary because of size and density. Measure what yours dispenses to be sure.- The top twists on tight and securely. There's no way a dog or cat can get into this. Bonus it keeps everything fresh.- The lit thing on the front that looks like a button is just a light displaying connection status. I was worried it was a manual feed button my dog would learn to press and gorge herself but it's nothing.- After you set this up and fill it, do a bunch of manual feeds through the app to get the dispenser loaded and primed for actual feedings.- The stainless steel food basket is removable. I washed it before I set everything up as well as wiped down the inside of the food hopper.- When the unit is turned on (let's say the power went off or you moved its location and plugged it in again) it dispenses 1 portion of food as what I'm guessing is part of a self-test.Overall this thing is a steal. The things they come up with are amazing.

Almost killed our cat!
Stopped feeding (without any warning) when they switched the app. Because we installed on the old version of the app, this feeder is now useless because the new version won’t allow it to be connected. For a few days our sweet cat was acting aggressive and ill (because he was starving). It also does not alert you when it’s empty. I guess your supposed to realize that when your pet is half-dead. Chinese hunk of garbage that now has to float in the Pacific Ocean for the next thousand years. Shame on you!

Works great!
Works great! Paired quickly to our WiFi and easily added to our PetWant app that we already have been using with another automatic wet food feeder. Dispenses a perfect amount of dry food. You can program feedings or press a button on the app for immediate feeding. There is a cute audio”doo do doo!” To announce the feeding that can be turned off if you wish. We have a web cam set up so we can ensure the feeder is working and it hasn’t disappointed! Great value for a WiFi feeder!

Do Not Buy. Product Can Hack Your Phone!!!!
Do not buy this item. If you have an android phone the app will not allow you to create an account. It will first make you download a file that will make your phone seriously vulnerable to hacking.

Don't buy this and waste your time.
I followed instructions in the booklet as well as the mobile application. I disabled 5Ghz on my modem so only 2.4Ghz was available. I was never able to register an account or use the app on Android. Don't waste your money on this it doesn't work, returning the ones I've ordered.
