Recorded between March and July of 1968 at Olympic Sound Studios in London, mixed at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, Beggars Banquet was the first Stones album produced by Jimmy Miller, and marks the start of what is considered their most prolific album era.The Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet (50th Anniversary Edition) limited edition hybrid SACD package is designed to look like a miniaturized replica of the 12” gatefold double-vinyl edition, sized to be a convenient 7” gatefold, and contain 2 hybrid SACDs, a flexi disc and expanded packaging elements exclusive to this edition. This bespoke packaging is manufactured in Japan and is of the highest quality to match the SACD audio. Special elements of the package include: replica packshots of two Japanese 7” single picture sleeves (“Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Street Fighting Man”) and both versions of the Beggars Banquet sleeve art are included.

Beggars Banquet. Still my very favorite Stones album
Even after five decades, Beggars Banquet remains my favorite Rolling Stones album. It retains the youthful energy of their first batch of 60s LPs, but also starts to allow a little Dylan influence into the music - and all to great effect. Jig Saw Puzzle, Salt of the Earth, No Expectations, and the monster Sympathy For The Devil, which features one of Keith's deceptively simple yet devastating masterpieces of a guitar solo. Jimmy Miller had come on board as producer, and in short order, would have also produced Sticky Fingers and Let It Bleed. While the band is sadly without the services of Brian Jones, who by this point, had drugged himself into near non-coherence, for almost all of the album. His beautiful slide part on the aching No Expectations is just about his only contribution to the record. That essentially makes this the work of the four man version of the Stones, with practically all guitars being handed by Keith. The new remaster, which is what we have here for the 50th anniversary of the album is crystalline and mighty. Beautiful, fun packaging includes some 45 picture sleeves, a mono and a stereo version, and some other contemporaneous ephemera, makes this one to treasure. And the music, for me, is the Rolling Stones at their very best.

Beggars should choose this!
My personal favorite Stones album sounding better than ever in a terrific fete of packaging. Really cool stuff. I’ll never use the floppy single but how great is it just to have? Plus the faux album disc holder and great vintage pics make for a big win for this edition and I have bought this in multiple formats and multiple remasters over the years. This is El Supremo.

SACD !!!
If you have the means to play this on a multi channel SACD system, buy this IMMEDIATELY! Sound is amazing! Not a multi channel SACD, but still sounds perfect.

Although there are 2 Hybrid SACD's included, the 2nd has only 2 tracks
Sets like these, with 2 discs, usually have one disc which is the stereo version of the album and the 2nd disc, the mono version of the album or even just outtakes and alternate versions of songs. Well, the 2nd disc in this set only has 2 tracks on it, both mono, 1). Sympathy For The Devil and 2). "Hello! This Is Mick Jagger"(Interview). Pretty useless. All tracks could have been put on one SACD. A flexi-disc is also included. It is a cool package, but I would have prefered just one Hybrid SACD in a regular jewel box.
