GOLDEN OPEN Slow-Drying Acrylics, Titanium White, 2 fl. oz. Tube

As a miniature painter for the past 5 years I can attest that these paints are fantastic for speed painting, glazing and wet blending. In fact, they are superior in these categories to a lot of other paints I have tried. They are heavily pigmented and due to their slow drying time they are excellent for creating smooth blends right on the model. Because we are using so little, the drying time is about 20-30 seconds depending on humidity, plenty of time to mix right on the model or clean up mistakes if paint got somewhere it wasn't supposed to. I did not expect to enjoy these paints so much for miniature painting but I find they never leave my painting desk now and are used with every model in some capacity. They are a smooth gel-like consistency that mixes extremely easily and consistently. I highly recommend them for intermediate to advanced painters. If you're just starting out I would say stick with model paints but if you are ready to push yourself, these are excellent.

Always an excellent product. These paints offer the blending character of oils with the advantages of being a little faster drying than oils (2-3 days).

Amazing paint! Takes hours to fully dry, which is exactly what I was looking for because it has a very long working time. perfect for blending and workability. Extremely thick but goes on very smooth, very high quality paint. Will be my acrylic paint of choice going forward!!

Great product

Golden open paint is outstanding for texture and staying workable. When shipped in plastic envelopes that don't adequately protect the tube from crushing results in deformed tubes that ooze paint when opened. Replacement tube was crushed. Original tube arrived and was leaking in plastic envelope. Use a box to protect tubes of paint!!

Perfect paint

I have found this brand of acrylic paint from Golden in the OPEN variety does dry much slower than regular and blends much like oil paints. I use this paint for painting pictures on canvas board or acrylic paper. Colors are vibrant

I’ll keep this short...I LOVE Open Acrylics...I put this review here under Titanium White because it’s probably a common choice. These paints stay workable for days in my covered stay wet pallet (I don’t add moisture just close the top over night). I do use a little Open Medium but that’s it. They have changed everything for me and allowed me to continue to paint and improve. Oils were not an option for me when I decided to start painting, and standard acrylics are very limiting because of the short drying time. These paints work as promised, in fact it’s hard to believe how well they work and extend your working time. They are great...I was more than satisfied with my results...

Golden products are good value for money though but pricey but excellent in quality. Wonderful sheen and colour.

I use zinc white for its translucency, great for adding a mistiness or glow to objects or receding backgrounds more. Doesn't cover like titanium white! Golden Open acrylics stay wet a bit longer than normal, which makes blending easier. My studio is pretty cold so these take a while to dry & on the pallete stay usable for days.
