An overlooked topic and a good short read (worth rereading, too)
If you are Christian, or read the Bible with attention, 'humility', 'humble', and similar words are often encountered in contexts where you might not expect them. This short book explains why the word 'humility' - and the virtue itself - is so central to the relationship between God and all God's creatures.Whether you want to change from a person who rejects humility all the time, or most of the time, to a person who has at least a beginning of understanding --- or whether you are satisfied with your current level of humility but wish to know more about how other people live as children of God, personages of the Bible who were famous for their humility or pride, wonderful people you knew when you were younger, or your contemporaries and so on -- this book is insightful and helpful. There are people who want to have less humility (Nietzscheans, for example) and this book would be good for them too, because it is a very bad idea to want to have less humility, as humility is correctly understood. They say that, for a writer (or an actor or singer) it is much easier to portray a bad person than a good person; this book explains why that is not true.

Part of a larger writing
Want to read what von Hildebrand wrote about humility without reading his larger work from which this comes? This booklet is just what you need. We all need to identify our pride and learn to practice humility. Jesus was humble. We need to be also.

Can't really recommend.
This is a small, short book which is actually an excerpt from Hildebrand's larger work, "Transformation in Christ." Although this is a Catholic book, I felt it worked well enough for all Christians.I had difficulty reading and comprehending this text, as it is not common in its speech. Here is an example from page 46: "By virtue of the anthropomorphic conception if the gods, the pattern of earthly existence is projected upon the level of eternity; it is not human life which, in the conspectus of the absolute, acquires a universal and indelible meaning, but inversely, the world of the gods which becomes tinged with the flighty irrelevance of terrestrial life -- hence, the trait of playfulness which, in Homeric antiquity, seems invariably to cling to the image of man, as though he were irrevocably confined in his finiteness." While I'm sure this means something, my head is too busy spinning to figure it out. This is how the entirety of the book reads. Two words which the author uses frequently are "virtues" and "metaphysical" and I am not well-acquainted with either. I am not a Catholic. Maybe the emphasis on "virtues" is more of a Catholic thing. While I did find a few things in this book personally helpful, for the most part I found it too dense while also lacking in sufficient elaboration. If you are looking for a book on humility, I would highly recommend "Humility: The Forgotten Virtue" by Wayne A. Mack.

My type nailed “Haughty”
A little over my head in places. The description of Haughty was exactly the pride I need to eliminate from my life.

Humility, the lost Virtue in our Modern Society
We’ve been taught Pride (ego) is good. Unfortunately it’s a vice that leads to the corruption of the soul, and other vices.Humility is prides opposite Virtue. Practice HumilityThis book is enlightening.

Excellent book
I enjoyed this book and it has taught me a lot about where my spiritual walk is lacking. Clearly and logically written, and motivating to put into practice.

How to live virtuously
This book tells you how to live virtuously before God and among other people: by being humble. A person is unable to live prudently, justly with others, courageously, or in moderation when afflicted by the weights of pride.

Humility
A really good book about a very divine virtue.

A must
Probably the sign of a true encounter with God, and the theological humility is like the evolution of the prudence the big virtue of the Greeks, for us as Christians is humility our attitude to let god act in us and throw us.
