When I first got the pad, I sat on it to see what would happen. It did seem to get a little warm, but I am not sure that it was any warmer than the heat that normally gets reflected by the fabric on the couch. This was bought for a cat. I put it on top of a pad that he was already using, and he wouldn't go near it. I then put it under one layer of a thin fleece blanket that he also uses, but don't know if any of the warmth got through. I finally moved it to a padded chair that he likes to sleep on, and he does use it there. If nothing else, it keeps his hair off of the chair! I wouldn't buy one again.

This is a great resting pad for my cat who is 18 years old and very frail. It automatically generates heat from the charcoal and she loves it. She constantly sleeps and lounges on it. I have washed it in the machine under gentle speed and let it line dry. It comes out perfectly, and none of its assets are changed. It has been a life saver for an elderly cat with lame limbs and aching joints. I highly recommend it. By the way, my other cats who are younger also like it.

It seems to work for my cat. She is elderly and gets cold easily. I keep my bedroom cold and she is welcome to get under the covers with me if she wishes (which she does!) but many nights she chooses to sleep at the foot of my bed on a neat 3-sided bolster pad that I picked up at another site, with this self-warming pad on top. It must keep her warm because she is a heat seeking missile!Of course I put an electric throw on that bolster bed for her in the winter (on low) that stays on for 10 hrs at a time, because I don't heat the bedroom.

I thought this would be something different. It is very hard to clean, looks like a dirty hairy piece of fabric and I think it is overpriced. But, the cat, who has many, many beds, really likes this in her cardboard box bed. I think she would love that box either way as she does the others she prefers over her bed. This is a strange product. I tried to feel if it was especially warm under my kitty and could not tell. I would not buy again.

Our older cat LOVES this mat. She typically hangs out in the cat bed but has chosen this way over everything else. It almost makes me wonder if they put catnip in there; however, I know that it is for dogs too so definitely not! It was a great purchase.

I bought two of these to put on top of my cats beds. But they wont go in their now. I still wanted to use them somehow so instead i placed them underneath their beds. Im hoping that it still provides some heat that way.

Arrived on time. Problem is the dog won't lay on it. She acts like I'm punishing her if I make her lol, but when I put it outside on her outdoor bed the cat will use it and it seems to keep her warm because she stretches out on it. For what it is it's a little pricey.

Even my most spirited felines are drawn to this mat. They are At peace each time they choose it.
