DMI Adjustable Multi-Color Quad Cane for Stability, Small Base, Silver

Adjustable is an apt descriptive for the Duro-Med cane. Though lightweight, this cane is ruggedly made and it allows easy use for long periods of walking. The comfortable foam-padded handle is suitable for all, and the telescoping cane allows you to adjust its height with a simple ratchet-like placeholder smoothly designed into the two-part cane (the upper section has the handle, and it mates to the lower section, which has the base with four rubber-tipped "feet" that inspire confident use). You can adjust the length of the cane so a person 6-feet, 4-inches tall enjoys use of the cane as readily as a shorter person can. A surprise with the cane is that it comes with a second lower section of rubber-tipped tubing that you can use in place of the quad-tipped base. This strategy transforms the cane into a standard "one-pole" model. Users who may feel they don't need the broad support of the base with four feet will enjoy this option, as will those who may want to use a cane in crowded areas, where the four-footed section might be a tad clumsy to use. (The trade-off, of course, is that the one-pole base offers less support.) An user with dizziness or lightheadedness will appreciate the extra support of the four-footed base. Last, a cord loop attached to the handle lets you insert your hand through it before you grip the handle, to add a bit of extra security. The metal cane is well-made and smoothly finished (nice welding with the base plate and its four feet), and all of this -- including the second base -- is priced astonishingly low. NOTE: Since I posted my review, I have been informed (in October of 2011) that the company does not offer a second, straight (monopole) section that can be affixed to the long cane handle. I found the standard four-prong, lower section of the cane to work very well, as described in company literature and based on my experience.

Got this for my mother-in-law (84 yrs. old). It weights slightly more than her "regular" cane but the difference is hardly noticeable (she would have complained if it was too much). We figured that the wider side faces out and turned it around to she can use it on her left side - easily done. She loves this because it allows her to use both hands when needed (i.e. getting the wallet out from the purse when shopping) without having to lean it against something where it then falls over all the time. Construction is sturdy (though she is petite) and gives her the stability she needs. For the price this is a great product!

I bought this for my mom, and within a few days she received it and she was very pleased with the appearance of the floral design, more fun than the plain ones! It is adjustable so that whether you're short or maybe taller, no problem, it is simple to adjust to your height and give you the product that you need for added stability! This is very sturdy and a well made cane to give years of added assurance in ambulation.

Well worth the money. I'm satisfied with this purchase. I do agree with another reviewer about the large sticker on the cane. There are actually 2 stickers on the front that distract from the cane. It took about 40 minutes and an application of "Goo Gone" and the problem was solved. I wouldn't let the stickers be an obstacle to buying the cane. But if you want the higher priced colors and don't want to take the time to remove the stickers then it is something to think about. The cane is lightweight but very sturdy. I trust it completely. The 4 rubber feet really give a sense of security. At [$...] bucks, free shipping, and a quality product you can't go wrong.

Okay, I got this for my dad to be safer than his regular cane. This is made of cheap metal (it just has that thinner than average cheapie look). It adjusts easily, but the locking screw to hold it once adjusted sticks out a bit (you don't see it in the photo but it's enough to catch on things). The bottom plate with the four little legs is a cheap looking piece of metal and it's not evenly spaced....the rectangle is "off" so it looks funky. The price was right but I'll likely return and spend a bit more to get a more solid appearing cane. I bought this in black so can't report on the other colors.

After reading all of the reviews for adjustable quad canes, I selected this one in silver. It replaces a black one that was provided by my health plan...this one is much sturdier. It is totally adjustable and since I am very short and also left handed it is perfect for me. I read that several of you had problems removing the labels or stickers. Try using a product such an UNDU adhesive remover. It removed the little bits of the label that did not totally peel off and my cane is now lovely and sticker free. I would test an inconspicuous place first to make sure it won't damage the finish. It was fine for the silver paint. I'm also very impressed with the fast shipping I received from this company. Thanks To Amazon and Just Home Medical! A few yers later around Dec 2016?...my original canes still serve me well however the cane that I purchased is no longer available. I bought another and it was much heavier and a a dark gray painted finish. My husband uses that cane and he loves it. The original company that I shopped with is either no longer in business or was sold to someone else. Remember that my glowing feedback was for a cane purchased in 2011. Always read the newest remarks before making your decision. I was told that the exact cane that I bought is none of these offered now.

The cane wobbles when in use. I had my 93 year old father try it out and he was very uncomfortable with it. I went to return it and had just missed the way too short 30 day window. Unfortunately, I will have to throw it away since I do not feel comfortable donating it. Beware!

Got this for my 90 year old mother who has severe osteo-arthritis in her knee. She took an instant liking to it and said it was so much better than her old single foot cane. I would buy another one for me but Amazon just upped the price by 5 bucks!! How dare they!!! (LOL!!) So far, no negative feedback so I would, (tentatively), not hesitate to recommend it.
