Has anyone experienced issues with cooling? it seems that the closeness to the bottom of the mac mini restricts air flow. anyone modify their mount?

Ralph E. Gandy provides the salient answer to this question. If you tear apart the Mini by removing its bottom cover, you find that the main cooling fan blows air in or out (not sure which) at the bottom cover edges. That cover does NOT sit flush to the bottom, as it visually appears. Instead, it is slightly raised to allow for air flow around the cover. If you block this air flow, as this holder does, then I can definitely see it causing the Mini to overheat. The power drain of the Mini, and hence its internal temperature, will vary as the CPU work load changes. To make a valid internal temperature measurement, you should do so while causing the Mini to do some serious number crunching for a few minutes, and THEN make the reading. My guess is that any i7-based Mini (2012 and 2014) will show the largest temp rise. If you're up for a modification, I would cut a few 1"D holes in the bottom to let the air move at the bottom of the Mini. I find this air blockage issue to be a deal-killer.

Does this fit 2009 Mac Mini 3,1?

No it would not. The Mac Mini case changed to thinner unibody in 2010 so I would think after that. I'm using a 2014.

Worth the money

Looks 3D printed but is sturdy. Works under the desk where I wanted it. The Mac feels really safe in it too. Didn’t use the screws that came with it as they don’t seem to be suited for a wooden desk. It is mainly for VESA mounting but can be used for under desk.

This is functional, but all wired stick above your monitor

I installed this on my 27inch curved screen and all wired are poking over the top of the monitor. It works, but it looks ridiculous. Ended up using the Mac as a base under the monitor.
