Amiko HD 265, little gem and life-saver
I bought the Amiko box to replace my 12 year old technomate box that died. I researched for ages to try and find a cheaper replacement that could pick up basic channels. The biggest criteria for me was easy installation, I did not want to spend hours, or even days, fiddling around trying to pick up channels as I don’t have much satellite knowledge. A forum online recommended this box for an almost plug and play box, so I went for it.The biggest shock came when I received the box, it’s so small, about the size of my open hand, but this did not distract me from plugging in all the leads, turning on, hitting the menu button on the remote first and then choosing auto installation. Ten minutes later, all channels were installed, in fact I got more than on the technomate box. After going through a few settings, I was watching all the channels in perfect quality, HD and standard channels. Very impressed, have had it up and running for over 2 weeks and I can highly recommend it, especially for those who have limited satellite knowledge, although my dish was already previously set up by a professional, so I had no dish aligning to perform. The remote is a good size and easy to navigate, batteries also supplied a long with a HDMI cable. There is a lot this box can do, more than my needs in fact, it can record onto a usb stick and has a handy IR extension cable if you want to hide the box, but I don’t see why as it’s so small. There is an online manual which is easier to read, although it does come with a decent book, there are also YouTube videos and many discussions online, type Amiko mini HD 265 and see how good it is. Happy with my purchase.
