The manufacturer lists these as being the alloy 2Cr13, aka Magnetic Stainless Steel 420. However, the silver utensil I received is not magnetic. The black utensil I received is magnetic, but given that they are both supposed to be made of the same metal, I can only assume that it's the black coating that causes the magnetic properties.Such a shame that they cut corners on the material, it's a neat design. (Also, as other reviewers have commented, I cannot understand why they would coat one of the utensils in black, as any coating is guaranteed to come off with sufficient wear, and it's going to come off in your mouth. No thank you!)

We use these on a regular basis, not just while camping. They are lightweight and comfortable to use. The can opener works ok in a pinch but I wouldn't want to use it on a regular basis. The bottle opener hasn't worked for us AT ALL. They are not flimsy at all, I never worry about them breaking. They are very easy to clean. I would order these again without hesitation.

this is a great fork and spoon combo it feels really strong and solid the knife on it cuts fine overall worth the money and it came with two so have an extra one to throw in my wifes camping bag
