TORNADO THB001 5-in-1 Pepper Spray System with UV Dye (Black)

This is so cool, it has everything I need to feel protected. The strobe light is blinding and the alarm sounds like a house alarm it's super loud. And everything happens at one time as soon as you take it out of its locked position, buy this you'll love it!

There is a reasons you need to practice with the sound on: Unless you get used to the "VERY LOUD SOUND" it will most likely disorient you when you have to deploy it under stressful conditions and you will drop it. Example: Some nice young men come up to you in a dark parking lot and say "GIVE ME ALL YOUR EFFIN MONEY HOE"! (OOOPS) there goes you only means of self defense sliding across the tar because the sound scared you. Better hope your money is the only thing they want.I also strongly suggest you get the armband along with extra batteries and a spare canister or two. The armband will let you deploy your self defense much faster then just using the belt clip. "THE BELT CLIP CAN BE TRICKY" ..... Some times when reversing sides, (right to left, left to right) it does not set into the clip 100%. When you go to deploy it, it will fumble to the ground. So be aware of this and test "BEFORE" you have to use it for real. The armband doesn't seem to have that issue.THE ARMBAND DOES HAVE A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THOUGH!, Its made for small arms. Possibly with the female anatomy in mind. All I know is that I could barely get it on my upper "BARE" arm. With a long sleeve shirt on I had to move it to my forearm. It comes in "ONLY" one size. (TO SMALL) :-)When you practice at home enough and get used to the noise from the alarm, then you can remove the batteries and just work on deploying it as your watching a movie at home or something.My suggestion is not to advertise to everyone in the world that you have this self defense system (if possible). What makes this so effective is the element of surprise, loud sound and flashing light. If your attackers know you have it they will be prepared mentally for the light and sound. Also they may use a different attack method on you that could do some really serious damage. Better they think your weak and defenseless so you can stun them and run to safety.Just one last thing:Watch the training movies on YOUTUBE.COM. Its not a machine gun. Use short bursts of pepper spray,1/2 to 1 second don't just press the spray till its empty. You need to save your pepper spray in case you have more then one attacker. Aim for the middle of the chest and it will most likely hit them in the face.Taken from one of their sights: The Tornado personal defense system discharges eight one second bursts of pepper spray up to a distance of 15 feet. I suggest going to a park and finding a tree to practice on. Also try it under different distances to see how it performs. Oh yeah, this is :"VERY IMPORTANT" Make sure the wind doesn't blow it back into your own face.I do hope this review helps someone avoid getting hurt and best of all I pray you never have to use it.--------------------------------------------PS>Buying replacement pepper spray canisters. My girlfriend works at a bar downtown and sometimes has to walk home by herself late at night so I decided to get her a "mace" product. The Tornado is, in my opinion, much better than the other products I looked at because it not only has the pepper spray, but also a LOUD alarm and a flashing light that both activate when the canister is removed from the holder.

I got screwed.Issues:1. The brand is Salus, not Tornado. In image attached, the Salus product was inside a Tornado package. False advertising.2. In other image attached, I tested the device but there was no light. Faulty device and false advertising.

While it may have several defensive aspects, it's too bulky and awkward for simple everyday use. Mine sits in the junk drawer and I carry a simpler, smaller pepper spray.

Belt clip is useless. Also device tends to get stuck in a seat belt when worn. Made my hands burn to open the plastic package. Must have been a leak in the factory.

Very discrete, very easy, and very fast. The alarm is not as loud as most other alarms and the strobe is not as bright as most other defense lights but this is not a problem. Folks need to keep in mind that those louder alarms and brighter lights are stand-alone individual items. This is an all in one. Would you rather have to deploy multiple devices in an emergency or only one? The convenience and rapid deployment more than compensate for the reduced volume and lumens.

Haven't had to use it but this thing is loud. The strobe may be a little disorienting at night and would probably help with the element of surprise for that split second before you hit the pepper spray button. Love the belt clip and how it puts it in the ideal position to use in the event of an altercation. Should probably take a minute to practice pulling it out a few times before wearing. The design of it makes it a lot less likely you will pepper spray yourself. Have had no issues with it going off when I wasn't using it and I keep the safety down all the time.
