Baby Snakes

Just wanted to up the star rating of this one because it's a perfectly exemplary Zappa album. It's a must for hardcore Zappa-philes, or an excellent introduction for the beginner, as it shows all sides of what the man is about. It's a selection of classics, to some extent the highlights of the 'Live in New York' set, played live by a legendary incarnation of the band, sounding huge and powerful. All the performances are exceptional and there is a version of 'Black Page #2' that is perfect. The album's kind of short but leaves you dazed enough for it not to matter. Have to admit it is one of Frank's cruder albums. I don't have a problem with that, but the easily offended should perhaps steer clear.

Baby Snakes - the cd soundtrack from the movie of the same name. Love every aspect of this Zappa offering and have listened to it many times over the years - highly recommended.
