Great replacement for buying pci cards
This is just what the doctor ordered , No more buying extra USB 3 pci cards to carry all all my usb devices, Tired of moving your computer in and out to access your usb ports? This system does the Trick just plug it into an existing usb 3 port plug the power supply in and away you go, each port has its own lighted on/off micro button it has never failed to work with any usb device i have hooked to it, it even has one outlet for rapid charging of phones and pads. it is small does not take up much room can be daisy linked, because of the size and light weight plastic housing, I can see where some might thing they are not getting enough for their money...but it does what it is designed for if it were larger an had a metal case it would also cost double the money.I was able to free up 2 pci slots with this device and move external usb 3 hard drives with the short wires they use to the hub and switch them on and off as i needed them. Plan on buying more as needed.Udate: you can not hook usb external drives with this device and do transfers to other hard drives, it will start then fails, guess that is why external drives come with short usb cable. They must be hooked direct to computer to transfer or copy files to other hard drives,UPDATE:9/05/2014: I tested this item on fire tv works great can connect usb flash drives, Logitech keyboard & mouse.

0 Hubs and loved it and have never had a problem with them
I already had 1 USB 2.0 Hubs and loved it and have never had a problem with them. I have tried to use 2 3.0 USB hubs and neither ever worked right so I thought to go for the brand that I knew worked well. Well, these works great just like I had hoped and needed. I have a external Sound Blaster card and it all works great and all my dropped connections seem to have disappeared. the card used to disappear and I'd have to hard boot or pull the USB and reconnect. It works great now. I use it for USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices as the other port Hub is pretty much filled up. Great unit.

Works well even when fully utilized
I thought 13 ports would be more than I ever need, but I seem to have it nearly filled up at work. I'm a hardware developer so I usually have a number of USB-based evaluation and programming boards plugged in, plus occasionally some data acquisition products (fairly high bandwidth). I also use it to charge my wireless headphones and phone at the same time. Automatic installation in Windows 7 and runs great with zero hiccups. The individual buttons control both power and USB access (of course if there's no power most devices won't turn on anyways). I don't really see the point to the buttons so I just leave them on all the time.

Worked great for me!!!!
The on/off switches work great, only they were arranged in a order that I wouldn't have designed. For instance I would have made all the side ports 1-7 and the ports on top as 8-13, but they staggered it. Other than that it is a great design. My Windows 7 PC recognized it right away without loading a driver. I did load it up, at least 12 ports with 12 USB to Ethernet NICs for a GNS3 Cisco CCIE design. The NICs and the HUB ran cool for over an hour, so overheating shouldn't be a problem. I didn't try it with more USB bus hogs like a bunch of external Hard Drives. Over all I would recommend it.

still working like the day it arrived over 3 years ago
Still using this hub, still working like the day it arrived over 3 years ago. Has my external hard drives, wireless mouse and keyboard, and phone charger on it, so it's used pretty heavily every day.

So-So.
Love all the ports -13! and that there are on off switches for each port - lovely! and the mix of 2.0 & 3.0 - amazing! But it won't charge my phones or my ipod or my kindle! Weird because it has its own power cord so you'd think it could have enough power but all my devices are warning me not to use them while they are plugged in to this port system if I want them to get charged.

Do Not Purchase
I purchased this unit for my office so that I would be able to hook my printers, hard drives and other items into my mid 2012 Mac powerbook. The unit failed to work. All lights came on telling me the usb port should be active, but when plugging something in the computer never recognized it.The only port that worked in some capacity was the "charger" port. This would charge a device, however it would not link to my computer. Not one port linked any type of device to my computerI dont know if this unit simply doesnt work with Mac powerbooks, or if it was DOA. My feeling is that it is cheaply made and a waste of money and time.I was completely dissatisfied with this product (it didnt work!) and would strongly recommend NOT purchasing it.

Stay far away from this hub!
Tried 3 of these and they all seem to have quirks with the USB ports. Sometimes a external HDD will not be recognized or will work for short time and then stop working. All kinds of issues. You get what you pay for though.I would spend the extra money and get an Anker branded USB hub and never worry again. (Which is what I did)
